About Waikīkī Dive Center Established in 1979, Waikīkī Dive Center is one of Hawaiʻi's longest-established PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Centers. We are a full-service scuba diving, marine recreation, professional training, and retail operation serving local residents, visitors, military personnel, and aspiring dive professionals. Position Overview The Assistant Shop Manager is a hands-on leadership position combining retail operations, guest experience, team coordination, executive administration, independent problem-solving, and operational accountability. This is not a traditional desk-based management position. The successful candidate must be comfortable working alongside team members, supporting customers, managing administrative priorities, and taking responsibility for operational outcomes. Working closely with the Operations Director and executive management, the Assistant Shop Manager helps maintain daily operational excellence, strengthen team accountability, protect company standards, and ensure that operational issues are addressed thoroughly and fairly. We are looking for a leader who takes ownership—not someone who simply reports problems, delegates tasks, or waits for instructions. Key Responsibilities: 1. Retail Operations & Guest Experience Oversee daily shop opening, operations, and closing procedures. Deliver exceptional customer service to recreational divers, students, military personnel, and visitors. Manage reservations, training enrollments, customer inquiries, and follow-up communications. Verify booking records, customer waivers, certification documentation, payments, and confirmations for accuracy and completeness. Support retail sales, equipment rentals, merchandising, inventory management, and equipment readiness. Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and welcoming retail environment.
