Assistant Distribution Center Manager

Assistant Distribution Center Manager We are seeking an Assistant Distribution Center Manager to work closely with our Central Distribution Centers Manager and help keep work moving throughout the warehouse. This person will learn all aspects of the operation, from receiving vendor products to picking and packing shuttle shipments for our 37 locations. The role is focused on floor supervision: making sure employees know where they are needed, work stays on track, and busy areas have enough support. This person will also need to step into warehouse tasks, especially when workloads increase or during staffing shortages. When the Central Distribution Centers Manager is away, the Assistant Distribution Center Manager will lead the floor and manage employees. Responsibilities Stay engaged on the warehouse floor, monitor workflow, and help employees stay productive. Make sure employees understand their assignments and redirect help where it is needed, working with the employees responsible for each area. Step in to assist with receiving, picking, packing, shuttle preparation, or other warehouse work during busy periods or staffing shortages. Handle assigned purchase orders and returns, ensuring they are processed accurately and promptly. Identify bottlenecks or gaps in coverage and help resolve them before they delay work. Supervise employees and address day-to-day workflow and personnel issues when the Central Distribution Centers Manager is away. Reinforce expectations for productivity, accuracy, organization, and safe work practices. Qualifications Experience supervising or managing employees, preferably in a warehouse or distribution setting. Hands-on experience with warehouse operations and the ability to perform work in multiple areas as needed. Good judgment in assigning work, shifting resources, and addressing performance concerns. Strong communication and organizational skills, including the ability to work effectively with other managers. Experience with purchase orders, returns, receiving, or order fulfillment preferred.
