Job Summary

Join our team at Arapahoe Community College as the Assistant Director of Facilities Operations, where your hands-on expertise and leadership will help keep our campus running smoothly and safely. This role oversees the day-to-day maintenance and grounds operations across all ACC locations, ensuring our buildings, systems, and outdoor spaces remain in top working condition. You’ll work closely with skilled trades professionals, contractors, and campus partners to deliver high-quality service and reliable operational support.

From responding to daily facility needs to planning long-term maintenance strategies, you’ll play a key role in creating a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and the community. This position requires travel between ACC locations and use of ACC vehicles, and requires a valid, non-restricted Colorado driver's license. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise maintenance and grounds teams, ensuring high-quality workmanship and safe operations.
  • Oversee campus-wide maintenance activities, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and grounds care.
  • Coordinate controlled maintenance projects, minor renovations, and contractor-supported work.
  • Conduct routine facility assessments, prioritize work orders, and support long-term maintenance planning.
  • Manage procurement of tools, equipment, and services while supporting budget and resource planning.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree 
    OR 
    an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience will count towards the education requirement. An equivalency will not count towards the experience requirement listed below.  
  • Three years of facilities management experience to include experience supervising maintenance and/or construction crews. 
  • Experience overseeing maintenance operations and controlled maintenance projects. 
  • Ability to draft, read, and understand drawings and layouts related to facilities systems. 
  • Knowledge of the repair, maintenance, and operation of buildings, grounds, and infrastructure systems. 
  • Must currently possess and maintain a valid, non-restricted Colorado driver’s license. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and to respond to after-hours emergencies. 
  • Ability to use office software such as Microsoft Office, Outlook or similar email communication, Excel, PowerPoint and work order software. 
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive learning & work environment and demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, families, faculty, and staff of diverse backgrounds. 
Preferred
  • Experience working in facilities in higher education. 
  • Working knowledge of State Construction regulations and safety codes.

Additional Information

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports materials, equipment, and tools weighing 
    up to 50 lbs. around all ACC campus locations.
  • This role frequently moves about and travels between all ACC campus locations. 
    Frequently works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include 
    inclement weather, heat, and cold. Occasionally ascends a ladder and may work from 
    high, exposed places such as to inspect the roof.
