Assistant Buyer

Trash and Vaudeville is an iconic New York City retail destination specializing in alternative fashion, punk, goth, streetwear, and independent clothing brands since 1975. With decades of history in the East Village, we are known for our distinctive selection of clothing, footwear, and accessories. We looking for a full-time Assistant Buyer for our store at 96 East 7th Street in the East Village, NYC. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated individual with a strong understanding of the Trash and Vaudeville aesthetic and customer base. The ideal candidate combines a strong eye for fashion with excellent administrative and analytical skills. A significant part of this role involves managing purchase orders, analyzing sales reports, tracking inventory, and working within Shopify's back-end systems. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with numbers, spreadsheets, and detailed organizational work. Duties & Responsibilities: Analyze sales reports, best sellers, and inventory levels to identify reordering needs and buying opportunities. Create, manage, and track purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in pricing, quantities, and delivery. Communicate with vendors regarding orders, shipments, invoices, and payments. Maintain organized records of orders, inventory, and vendor communications. Work within Shopify to manage product listings, inventory, pricing, and purchasing. Assist with merchandise selection, wholesale reorders, and identifying new products and brands. Understand our customer preferences and fashion trends to help guide buying decisions. Ensure merchandise is properly received Assist customers on the sales floor and support daily store operations as needed. Qualifications: Previous experience in retail, buying, merchandising, or inventory management. Strong understanding of the Trash and Vaudeville style, alternative fashion, brands, and customer base. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks independently. Comfortable working with numbers and sales data. Computer savvy and comfortable learning new administrative systems. Shopify, purchase order management, and wholesale buying experience strongly preferred Strong communication, problem-solving, and follow-through skills. Flexible availability, including weekends.
