Assistant Buyer - Full Time - Onsite

Position Summary: The role of a Silver Star Brands assistant buyer is to provide support to the Corporate Category Buyer, this will include product development, cost negotiations, sample requests and new product paperwork.  This person is responsible along with product planning for data integrity within our ERP system.  In addition the assistant buyer works closely with our personalization, customer relations and creative services departments and distribution center.

 

Major Position Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

 

Purpose: The Assistant Buyer is responsible for supporting the buyer in product development, merchandise assortment planning and communication in accordance with the guidelines of Silver Star Brands to achieve the financial goals for each designated product area and brand.

  • Send, collect and process New Product Information sheets and all applicable compliance paperwork from suppliers; accountable for accuracy of forms.
  • Maintain and update the Assortment Plans and Product Detail information, ensure supplier compliance for quality, packaging, labeling and governmental standards
  • Responsible for reviewing all copy details- descriptions, style numbers, pricing, etc, post pagination.
  • Assist buyers in sourcing, cost negotiations and developing new product
  • Coordinate the ordering, testing and receiving of product samples 
  • Lead to resolve quality problems and lower returns in collaboration with buyer and other teams
  • Work with internal departments as needed, including personalization, customer relations, product planning, e-commerce and creative services
  • Manage samples needed for creative photography
  • Maintain supplier product catalog files

Required education, skills, abilities, and experience:

  • College degree preferred
  • Solid communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to proof data and initial copy to ensure all information is accurate 
  • Customer focused and Creative spirit
  • Works well in a collaborative environment
  • Solid skills in Excel, Word, Windows, Access and Microsoft Outlook
  • Desire to develop to the position of buyer
