Assistant Bar Manager

Job Description Westville Dumbo is seeking a motivated, organized, and service-oriented Assistant Bar Manager to support daily bar operations and help deliver an exceptional guest experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead a team while maintaining high standards of beverage quality and customer service. The Assistant Bar Manager will work closely with the Bar Manager to supervise bar staff, coordinate shifts, monitor inventory, maintain cleanliness, and ensure smooth service throughout busy periods. This role requires a hands-on professional who can support team development, resolve guest concerns, and contribute to efficient and successful bar operations. Key Responsibilities Assist the Bar Manager with daily bar operations and service coordination. Supervise bartenders, servers, and bar support staff during assigned shifts. Help maintain consistent beverage preparation, presentation, and service standards. Ensure guests receive friendly, attentive, and professional service. Respond to guest questions and resolve service concerns promptly. Assist with staff scheduling, shift assignments, and coverage arrangements. Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of bar employees. Monitor beverage inventory and communicate replenishment needs. Assist with ordering supplies and maintaining appropriate stock levels. Help control beverage costs, minimize waste, and monitor product usage. Ensure proper cash handling and accurate point-of-sale transactions. Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the bar area. Follow applicable alcohol service, food safety, and workplace safety regulations. Coordinate with kitchen and dining-room teams to support smooth service. Help implement service procedures and operational standards. Monitor employee performance and provide constructive guidance. Assist with beverage menu updates, promotions, and special events as needed. Ensure opening, closing, and shift-handover procedures are completed properly. Report equipment issues, operational concerns, and supply shortages to management. Help create a professional, welcoming, and collaborative working environment. Qualifications and Skills Previous experience in bartending, bar supervision, or hospitality operations. Prior leadership or supervisory experience is preferred. Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-management skills. Knowledge of beverage preparation, presentation, and service standards. Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities. Understanding of inventory management, stock rotation, and cost control. Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and payment procedures. Knowledge of responsible alcohol service and applicable regulations. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask and remain composed during busy service periods. Reliable, professional, and flexible approach to work. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Relevant alcohol service certification where required by law.
