Assembly Throughput & Material Control Supervisor
ConfidentialAssembly Throughput & Material Control Supervisor The Role, Reimagined You are the conductor of the shop-floor orchestra. From the moment kits leave the stockroom to the instant finished goods are staged for shipment, you orchestrate movement, timing, and accuracy. As the Assembly Throughput & Material Control Supervisor, you keep production flowing, transactions clean, and teams aligned—ensuring every component finds its place on time and in full. A Day in the Life Start by reviewing work-in-process and overnight movements in MES (SFM) and ERP. Walk the line with supervisors to validate priorities, reconcile quantities, and clear bottlenecks. Confirm kits and components are aligned at the transfer zone, verify CNC/CMM/Assembly queues, and ensure barcode/labeling equipment is ready for the day. By midday, you’re updating production teams on status, expediting assemblies toward shipping, and fine-tuning safety stock and Kanban signals. You close the day by publishing progress, cycle count, and open MO reports—and locking in WIP control for tomorrow. What You’ll Lead Coordinate component movement across the shop floor and through functional departments, keeping production teams informed on status. Attend department meetings, own action items, and drive timely follow-up. Partner cross-functionally with engineering, quality, production, planning/scheduling, and shipping/receiving. Serve as the operational focal point—help supervisors and team leads prioritize and reconcile component quantities and assemblies on the floor. Oversee shipping and receiving activities, including barcode and labeling equipment readiness. Work with supervisors to expedite assemblies from manufacturing through to shipping. Ensure smooth material movement at key points on the floor, including: Kits to/from the stockroom and production line-side. Kits and components staged at the shop transfer zone. Accurate MES (SFM) transaction quantities throughout the manufacturing process. Component flow to/from CNC, CMM, and Assembly. Packing materials planning and availability. Storage planning for finished goods. MO lot integrity, MRB movement and tracking. Participate in and support the annual physical inventory. Publish daily work progress, transaction, cycle count, and open MO reports. Maintain disciplined control of WIP. Reconcile SFM and ERP transactions, quantities, and locations. Identify floor-stock items and implement replenishment milk runs. Drive material flow improvements using safety stock and Kanban. Keep production staff fully visible to all MO components by ensuring the production schedule is current. Deliver ad hoc analyses and projects as needed.
