About the role The Assembly Technician is a hands-on operational role responsible for managing the day-to-day warehouse, inventory, and material-handling activities required to keep production moving. The role also performs mechanical and basic electrical assembly work, including inspection and testing, based on operational and project requirements. Working closely with procurement, operations, and project teams, the position ensures materials and finished products are safely and accurately received, stored, assembled, documented, and prepared for shipment. Key Responsibilities Assembly and Production Perform mechanical and basic electrical assembly using approved drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, and applicable procedures. Inspect completed work, perform basic functional or continuity checks where required, and document results before the product moves to the next stage. Support the kitting of components and materials for assemblies prior to production Monitor open orders and follow up on delays, backorders, or discrepancies Warehouse Operations Coordinate inbound and outbound warehouse shipments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation Coordinate with carriers and freight providers to schedule pickups, deliveries, and resolve transportation issues Inspect and verify incoming goods against purchase orders; manage discrepancies, damages, and returns Ensure all shipping documentation (BOLs, packing slips, etc.) is complete and compliant Monitor shipment status and proactively address delays or service issues Inventory and Purchasing Support Support Procurement Coordinator in maintaining accurate inventory records within the system and ensure alignment with physical stock Periodic inventory audits, investigating and resolving variances Provide backup support to the Procurement Coordinator by entering purchase orders, following up with vendors, communicating material status to project teams, and completing other assigned procurement tasks. Coordination and Continuous Improvement Assist the Procurement Coordinator as necessary to act as the key liaison between warehouse operations, assembly, procurement, and project teams for day-to-day material and production requirements Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant shipping/regulatory requirements Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Essential Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in warehouse, production, or technical operations, including demonstrated experience performing mechanical or basic electrical assembly in a manufacturing, engineering, or similar environment Experience with, or the demonstrated ability to learn, receiving, inspection, storage, picking, packing, and shipping processes for materials and equipment Ability to perform mechanical and basic electrical assembly using drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, hand tools, and power tools Ability to safely operate, or be trained and certified to operate, forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other material-handling equipment before independent use Working knowledge of inventory control, material identification, and discrepancy resolution Commitment to safe working practices and the correct use of personal protective equipment Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills …
