Responsibilities Lead and supervise store staff, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluations to foster a motivated and knowledgeable team. Oversee inventory management, ensuring stock levels are maintained accurately through effective purchasing, merchandising, and stock replenishment strategies. Manage daily store operations including cash handling, POS (Point of Sale) systems, cashiering, and sales transactions to ensure smooth customer experiences. Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets while promoting retail math principles such as pricing and sales management. Coordinate marketing efforts to attract new customers and retain existing clients through promotional activities and community engagement. Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, manage payroll, bookkeeping, budgeting, and administrative tasks to ensure operational efficiency. Foster excellent customer service by addressing inquiries promptly, resolving issues efficiently, and maintaining a welcoming store environment. Conduct employee orientation sessions on store policies, product knowledge—including aquatic life care—and safety procedures. Utilize communication skills to effectively train staff on product features such as wireless sales accessories or specialized aquarium equipment. Implement organizational skills for shift management, scheduling, inventory control, and merchandising to optimize store performance. Experience Proven management experience in retail environments, preferably within specialty stores such as pet or grocery stores with a focus on aquatic products. Must have aquaculture experience or formation or similar experience in aquarium store. Demonstrated supervisory experience with a track record of leading teams successfully in fast-paced settings. Strong background in retail sales management, including experience with POS systems, cashiering, pricing strategies, and retail math. Familiarity with inventory management techniques such as purchasing, stock control, and merchandising best practices. Excellent communication skills in multiple languages or bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse customer bases effectively. Experience in employee recruitment, interviewing techniques, training & development programs, and performance management is essential. Knowledge of budgeting processes, payroll administration, bookkeeping practices, and general administrative responsibilities within retail operations. Skills in marketing initiatives related to store promotion or community outreach will be considered an asset.
