Venture49 is recruiting on behalf of a global freight forwarder for a full-time, on-site Air and Ocean Freight Coordinator in Houston, Texas. Annual compensation is $55,000 to $65,000 (negotiable based on experience). About the role We are hiring a hands-on air and ocean freight operations specialist for a people-first global freight forwarder recognized for more than 10 years as a top company for well-being, stability, and career growth. This role manages air freight shipments from start to finish while also supporting ocean import operations, working across a network of more than 35 countries on time-critical and complex shipments. Air freight should make up the majority of your recent experience. This role is not a fit for procurement backgrounds or for candidates whose experience is primarily ocean. Strong ocean import experience is required in addition to air. What you will do Manage air freight shipments from origin to final delivery. Book cargo, coordinate pickups, prepare documentation, follow up with airlines, track shipments, arrange delivery, and handle billing. Support ocean import operations, including ISF and AMS filings, ocean documentation, terminal and intermodal coordination, and exception handling. Work with airlines, ocean carriers, truckers, terminals, customers, and internal offices on bookings, pickups, documents, and cargo recovery. Monitor milestones, flag delays and exceptions early, and resolve issues to maintain service levels. Keep documentation, system updates, costs, and final billing accurate. Support air freight quotes by checking routing, transit times, capacity, and operational feasibility. Handle priority, bonded, FTZ, and cross-border shipments with close follow-up through the full lifecycle. What you bring 5 to 10 years of hands-on air and ocean freight operations experience in freight forwarding. Air freight as the majority of recent experience, in air export or air import, not procurement and not primarily ocean. Strong ocean import operations experience, ideally around 70 percent imports and 30 percent exports. CargoWise experience is required. Knowledge of AES, TSA requirements, and air freight documentation. Knowledge or certifications in AMS, ISF, FMC, and IMDG. Knowledge and experience with bonded freight, FTZ, and cross-border operations. Strong network and operational experience with terminals and intermodal vendors. Ability to manage multiple shipments, priorities, and urgent requests independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills. Native English proficiency. Bilingual Spanish and English is preferred but not required. Nice to have Aerospace or time-critical and AOG shipment experience. Experience supporting multiple internal offices or internal customers. Hazmat and dangerous goods handling across air and ocean. Why this opportunity Join a global freight forwarder recognized for more than 10 years as a top company for well-being, stability, and career growth. Work across a network of more than 35 countries on time-critical and complex shipments. Internal mobility with ongoing training and certifications. A culture built around empowered operators, fast decision-making, and strong client service. Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Work Location: In person
