Air Import Supervisor

About the Company An international logistics and freight forwarding company is seeking an experienced Air Import Supervisor to oversee daily air import operations at its Dallas, Texas branch. This position is based at the company’s Dallas branch, which includes an attached warehouse facility. The warehouse provides logistics support, including CFS operations and temporary bonded cargo storage. The company offers a broad range of international and domestic logistics services, including air freight, ocean freight, domestic transportation, customs clearance, and third-party logistics (3PL). About the Role This position is responsible for coordinating import shipments from origin to final delivery, ensuring operational accuracy, timely customs clearance, and high-quality customer service. The successful candidate will help manage the department’s daily workflow, coordinate with overseas agents and service providers, and support the team in maintaining efficient and compliant shipment operations. Candidates with direct air import experience are preferred. However, experienced freight forwarding professionals with a background in ocean imports or exports may also be considered. Responsibilities Oversee daily air import operations, including shipment coordination, documentation, arrival notices, customs clearance, and final delivery arrangements. Coordinate with overseas offices and agents, airlines, customs brokers, trucking companies, and other logistics partners to ensure timely and efficient shipment handling. Monitor shipment status, identify potential delays or operational issues, and implement appropriate solutions. Review import documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with applicable customs regulations and company procedures. Coordinate with internal departments and external service providers to resolve shipment discrepancies, delivery issues, and customer inquiries. Supervise and support team members, monitor workflow, and help maintain operational efficiency and service quality. Communicate proactively with customers regarding shipment status, delays, documentation requirements, and other import-related matters. Coordinate cargo handling and temporary storage as necessary with the company’s on-site warehouse, including its Container Freight Station (CFS) and bonded cargo storage operations. Maintain accurate shipment records and ensure proper handling of shipment documents and operational data. Identify opportunities to improve procedures, productivity, and customer satisfaction. Assist management with departmental reporting, performance monitoring, and other operational duties as needed. Qualifications Previous experience in the freight forwarding or international logistics industry is required. Air import experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with ocean import or export experience at a freight forwarding company may also be considered. Working knowledge of international shipping procedures, transportation coordination, and import/export documentation. Familiarity with customs clearance procedures and applicable import compliance requirements. Experience coordinating with overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers, trucking companies, and customers. Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced operational environment. Previous team leadership, supervisory, or senior-level operational experience is preferred. Familiarity with freight forwarding software and shipment management systems is a plus.
