Air Export Manager – International Freight Forwarding – Houston, TX (Onsite) Keywords: Air Export, Airfreight, Freight Forwarding, Air Cargo, Operations Management, Team Leadership About the Company We are representing an established international freight forwarder with multiple offices across the U.S. and an overseas network supporting global transportation requirements. The business is continuing to grow and has secured additional customer volumes , creating the need to strengthen its Houston air export operation. They are looking for someone who can take ownership of the department today while helping build and develop the team as volumes increase. About the Role The Air Export Manager will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Houston air export operation, leading a small team while remaining actively hands-on with shipments . This is not a purely managerial position. You will work alongside the team, handling air export files, supporting pricing, resolving operational issues, and ensuring shipments are executed efficiently from booking through departure. The opportunity would be particularly well suited to an experienced Air Export Team Lead or Supervisor who is ready to step into their first management position . The team is currently small, so the successful candidate must be comfortable remaining operationally hands-on while taking increasing management responsibility as the department grows. Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day air export operation in Houston Lead, support, and develop a small team of Air Export Coordinators Remain hands-on with A–Z air export shipments alongside the team Allocate workloads and ensure shipment priorities and deadlines are managed effectively Support airfreight pricing, quotations, routings, and carrier selection Coordinate with airlines, trucking providers, warehouses, customers, and overseas offices Ensure export documentation and shipment files are completed accurately and compliantly Monitor service levels and overall operational performance Handle escalations and support the team with complex or time-sensitive shipments Maintain strong relationships with customers, airlines, and service providers Help establish processes and structure as the air export department continues to expand Support the recruitment and development of additional team members as volumes grow Candidate Requirements Strong experience within international airfreight forwarding Significant hands-on air export experience Strong understanding of A–Z air export operations Previous Team Lead, Supervisor, or similar leadership experience Candidates ready to make the step from supervision into their first management role are encouraged to apply Airfreight pricing experience and knowledge of airline rates, routings, and quotations Comfortable managing a small team while remaining heavily involved in daily operations Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to develop people and help build an operation as volumes increase Must be based in or able to commute to Houston, TX What You Can Expect 100% onsite position based in Houston, TX Opportunity to step into an Air Export Manager position Hands-on ownership of a growing air export operation Immediate leadership responsibility for a small existing team Opportunity to grow the team as additional business comes onboard International environment with U.S. and overseas offices Genuine progression as the Houston operation continues to expand
