Tuscarora Grain Co., LLCAgricultural & Bulk Freight Brokerage Manager Tuscarora Logistics Pennsylvania | Hybrid/Flexible Full-Time Base Salary: $70,000–$80,000 + performance compensation based on freight gross profit Tuscarora Logistics is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Agricultural & Bulk Freight Brokerage Manager to help build our external freight brokerage business. This is not primarily a dispatch position. We are looking for someone who can develop customers, build a profitable book of business, expand our carrier network, and create recurring freight lanes within agriculture, food, feed ingredients, and bulk commodities. Our existing business gives this person a strong platform to build from, including established relationships throughout the agricultural supply chain, significant transportation activity, carrier relationships, trucking operations, rail activity, and storage/transloading capabilities. At the same time, this role is specifically focused on building new external Tuscarora Logistics business. Existing Tuscarora Grain freight is currently managed separately and will not be the primary responsibility or commission base for this position. What You'll Do Develop new transportation customers in agriculture, grain, feed, food ingredients, fertilizer, processing, and other bulk commodity industries. Build and manage a profitable book of external Tuscarora Logistics freight. Prospect for and develop long-term shipper relationships. Quote and broker hopper-bottom and other bulk commodity freight. Develop relationships with hopper-bottom carriers, owner-operators, and other specialized carriers. Negotiate customer and carrier rates while maintaining strong gross-profit discipline. Build recurring freight lanes instead of relying solely on transactional spot loads. Identify backhaul and round-trip opportunities. Develop reliable carrier capacity for key corridors. Work with customers and carriers on equipment requirements, trailer cleanliness, loading and unloading requirements, weights, scheduling, and facility-specific needs. Help identify external freight lanes that could eventually support expansion of Tuscarora's company-owned trucking capacity. Our Core Freight Focus Experience with agricultural and bulk transportation is particularly valuable, including: Hopper-bottom freight Grain Feed and feed ingredients Food ingredients Fertilizer and agricultural inputs Seed Organic and specialty commodities Food- and feed-grade transportation Rural and difficult-to-cover freight We also see opportunities involving pneumatic trailers, end dumps, walking floors, dry vans, flatbeds, and other equipment depending on customer needs. You do not need experience with every equipment type. Who We're Looking For We are particularly interested in candidates with: 5+ years of freight brokerage, transportation sales, trucking, logistics, or transportation account-management experience. A demonstrated ability to develop new shipper relationships. Experience generating transportation revenue and gross profit. Knowledge of truckload pricing, carrier negotiation, freight margins, and lane development. Experience building or managing a transportation book of business. Strong sales, communication, and negotiation skills. An entrepreneurial mindset and interest in helping build a growing business. Experience with agricultural transportation, hopper-bottom freight, grain, feed ingredients, bulk commodities, food ingredients, or fertilizer is highly desirable. Existing relationships with shippers, bulk carriers, or owner-operators are also highly desirable. An established book of agricultural or bulk commodity freight is a major plus, but it is not required for the right candidate.
