Company: (BTI) Department: Operations / Dispatch Position: After-Hours Dispatcher Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM Position Overview Balic Transport Inc. is seeking a reliable, organized, and proactive After-Hours Dispatcher to oversee daily trucking operations during the evening shift. This individual will be responsible for monitoring active shipments, communicating with drivers, resolving operational issues, and ensuring all loads remain on schedule. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, make quick decisions, and handle multiple situations in a fast-paced trucking environment. Key Responsibilities Driver Communication: Maintain consistent communication with drivers regarding pickups, deliveries, delays, breakdowns, and other operational concerns. Load Tracking: Monitor all active shipments and ensure drivers are meeting scheduled pickup and delivery appointments. Problem Solving: Respond immediately to breakdowns, delays, rejected trailers, missed appointments, and other unexpected situations. Customer Updates: Provide timely and professional updates to customers regarding shipment status, ETAs, and service issues. Hours of Service (HOS): Monitor driver hours and ensure loads are planned within legal driving limits. Repowers & Recovery: Coordinate repowers, driver swaps, and recovery plans when necessary to protect customer service. TMS Updates: Keep all load information, driver statuses, appointment times, and shipment notes accurate and updated. Equipment Management: Monitor trailer availability and coordinate equipment needs when required. Escalation: Notify operations management immediately of major service failures, accidents, breakdowns, or other critical issues. Shift Handoff: Provide a detailed end-of-shift report to ensure the next dispatch team is aware of all outstanding issues. Qualifications Previous trucking dispatch or logistics experience preferred. Strong understanding of dry van trucking operations. Knowledge of DOT regulations and driver hours-of-service requirements. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision. Performance Expectations Maintain high on-time pickup and delivery performance. Respond promptly to driver and customer communications. Identify potential service failures before they occur. Keep all shipments accurately updated in the TMS. Minimize unnecessary downtime and operational disruptions. Ensure all unresolved issues are communicated to the next shift. Overall Objective The After-Hours Dispatcher is responsible for keeping BTI's fleet moving efficiently and safely outside regular business hours, protecting customer service, supporting drivers, and ensuring a smooth transition between dispatch shifts.
