Any U.S. Citizen who has acquired special knowledge or expertise regarding the natural or cultural resources of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, by reason of having either lived or worked in or near the unit may apply. Duties This position is located within the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Alaska Region, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, Copper Center, Alaska. At the full performance level (GS-07) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Manage correspondence, reports, and records, ensuring accuracy, organization, and compliance with federal standards. Perform payroll and timekeeping functions using automated systems, ensuring accurate and timely submission. Compose and prepare a variety of correspondence and documents, ensuring correct format, tone, and grammar. Receive, review, and process procurement and supply requests; monitor and replenish stock items. Provide general administrative assistance to supervisors and staff, anticipating needs and assembling documentation for park operations. Monitor budget and financial management including invoice for travel and voucher payment verifications. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. Requirements Conditions of employment Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. You must have the ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute. You may be required to travel overnight away from home on occasion to attend meetings and training. You are required to complete training, obtain and maintain a government credit card with travel and/or purchase authority. You must be at least 18 years of age or older to operate government vehicles. Eligible for conversion to competitive service after two years and upon meeting all requirements. As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 2-year trial period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated. This trial period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service.
