Administrative Assistant for IT
Garden City Community CollegeRole: To provide administrative services to support all aspects of the IT Department. This position collaborates and communicates with all members of the IT Department, as well as faculty and staff across campus, to assist with meeting the needs and objectives of the campus community. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: General reception and clerical duties to assist in the organization of the IT Department. Assist in answering frequently asked questions from the college community regarding processes and support. Assist with the coordination and managing of all IT requests/ helpdesk requests. Manages follow up items and report status with escalations regularly to the Executive Information Officer. Assists in identifying process gaps and trends with helpdesk requests. Assist in answering questions and providing support to all faculty and staff. Assist with budget tracking, including the delivery of regular monthly updates. Assist with procurement of equipment and supplies, including all required documentation. Supports relationships with vendors as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned. Performance Measurements: To schedule and organize work to meet established deadlines. To maintain a friendly, professional work environment and attitude when working with others. To function as an integral member of IT Department To provide excellent customer service. Respond to requests in a timely and professional manner. Knowledge and Skills: Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience. Education: A high school education or GED. Interpersonal Skills: Work regularly involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information regarding various projects within the IT Department which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (students, visitors or vendors) requiring ordinary courtesy in providing information and discussion. Other Skills: Knowledge and experience with governance procedures. Strong organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Well versed in the Microsoft Office Suite of products. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand or sit for extended periods; speak and hear clearly in group settings and at distances of 30 feet; maintain physical mobility, alertness, and composure; utilize appropriate presentation materials and equipment; and transport self and equipment to various campus/community/area sites as needed. Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
