Active Adult Program Transportation Driver

ACTIVE ADULT PROGRAM TRANSPORTATION DRIVER Department: Recreation – Active Adult Programs Reports to: Active Adult Program Coordinator Location: Buchanan Recreation Center, surrounding areas FLSA Status: Part-Time, Temporary/Grant-Funded. Pay Range: $19-$24 per hour, depending on experience POSITION OVERVIEW Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) is seeking a friendly, dependable, and organized individual to support transportation services for our Active Adult Programs. This position helps older adults stay active, connected, and engaged in their community by providing safe, reliable transportation to recreation programs and activities. The Transportation Driver coordinates and provides door-to-door transportation for program participants, including scheduling rides, communicating with riders, maintaining records, and safely operating District vehicles. This position may also assist with transportation for excursions, special events, and other District activities as needed. This is a temporary, grant-funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon available grant funding and program needs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Safely operate District vehicles to transport Active Adult Program participants between their residences, recreation facilities, and designated program locations. Coordinate transportation requests, including scheduling pickups and drop-offs, confirming ride details, and communicating schedule changes or delays. Provide courteous, door-to-door service, including appropriate assistance with entering and exiting vehicles and accompanying ambulatory participants to and from designated locations. Plan efficient transportation routes using GPS, mapping applications, and scheduling tools. Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, rider information, schedules, and other required transportation documentation. Assist with transportation for regularly scheduled Active Adult Programs, excursions, special events, and other District activities as needed. Conduct routine vehicle safety checks and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns. Follow District policies, transportation procedures, and applicable safety regulations. Perform other related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Safe and responsible driving practices in varying road and weather conditions. Friendly, patient, and compassionate approach to working with older adults and individuals with varying mobility needs. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency with GPS navigation, scheduling software, mobile devices, and basic computer applications. Clear, professional communication with participants, families, coworkers, and supervisors. Sound judgment and problem-solving skills, particularly when responding to unexpected situations or safety concerns. Dependability, professionalism, and a commitment to providing safe, reliable, and respectful transportation services. Comfortable working independently while maintaining confidentiality and following established procedures. QUALIFICATIONS Required Must be at least 21 years of age. Valid Colorado driver's license in good standing with an acceptable driving record. Successful completion of required background checks. Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Preferred Previous experience providing transportation services, particularly for older adults or community recreation programs. Experience coordinating transportation schedules, routes, and passenger pickups. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or relevant passenger transportation training. Familiarity with the Evergreen community and surrounding areas.
