Accountant – Trucking & Logistics Overview Nexlift is seeking an experienced, organized, and proactive Accountant with a strong understanding of trucking and logistics to support our accounting and daily transportation operations. As a family-owned and operated delivery company, we value accuracy, accountability, clear communication, and dependable service. This position will work closely with ownership, drivers, customers, and vendors to keep our financial records accurate and our deliveries running efficiently. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing accounting responsibilities while also assisting with dispatch, scheduling, and delivery coordination. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, follows through, and understands how daily operating decisions affect costs and profitability. Accounting & Financial Responsibilities Manage daily accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank and credit card reconciliations. Prepare customer invoices, track payments, and follow up on past-due accounts. Review vendor bills, coordinate payments, and assist with payroll preparation. Track operating expenses, including fuel, maintenance, payroll, insurance, and equipment costs. Prepare monthly financial reports, monitor cash flow, and help ownership evaluate costs and profitability. Maintain organized records and coordinate with the company’s outside CPA. Logistics & Operational Responsibilities Assist with dispatch, delivery scheduling, and assigning drivers and equipment. Help plan efficient routes based on delivery requirements, truck capacity, and equipment availability. Communicate with drivers, customers, and suppliers to confirm details and address scheduling changes or delivery issues. Keep orders, delivery instructions, and schedules current in the dispatch system. Review delivery paperwork to ensure completed work and additional charges are billed accurately. Coordinate equipment maintenance with delivery schedules and help improve daily operations. Required Qualifications Accounting experience within a trucking, transportation, logistics, or delivery business. Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and monthly financial reporting. Practical understanding of dispatch, routing, delivery scheduling, and fleet operating costs. Proficiency with QuickBooks or comparable accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Ability to learn and use dispatch and order management software. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities. Clear, professional communication skills when working with drivers, customers, vendors, and ownership. Ability to work independently, handle confidential information, and take ownership of tasks from start to finish. Preferred Qualifications Degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered. Experience with palletized freight, building materials, or truck-mounted forklift deliveries. Experience with OnTime 360 or similar dispatch software. Experience analyzing costs and profitability by truck, route, or customer. Experience working in a small or family-owned business with responsibilities across accounting and operations.
