Operating out of our Pittsburgh office, you will work in a fast-paced trading floor environment backed by dedicated operational support, hands-on leadership coaching, and proprietary logistics technology. What You Will Do Drive Outbound Pipeline: Execute high-volume outbound prospecting (cold calling, targeted outreach) to qualify manufacturing, retail, and industrial shipping prospects. Build a Book of Business: Consult directly with supply chain decision-makers to identify recurring shipping lanes, assess operational pain points, and secure ongoing freight volume. Price & Negotiate: Analyze real-time market capacity, lane pricing, and carrier margins to negotiate profitable rates and close spot and contractual freight agreements. Manage Customer Success: Serve as the primary commercial advisor for your accounts, resolving operational exceptions and proactively identifying opportunities to expand wallet share. Partner with Operations: Collaborate daily with carrier procurement and logistics coordinators to ensure reliable execution, carrier coverage, and on-time service delivery. Maintain Pipeline Hygiene: Accurately log communications, track lane opportunities, and manage pipeline health inside our Transportation Management System (TMS) and CRM. Growth Milestones Month 1: Complete comprehensive training on freight market dynamics, our TMS platform, and outbound sales playbooks. Begin cold outreach and initial pipeline discovery. Months 2–3: Convert initial prospect accounts, run active freight moves, and refine margin negotiation techniques under direct mentorship. Month 6+: Manage an independent, revenue-generating client portfolio with uncapped commission potential, with paths into senior sales leadership or enterprise account tiers. Qualifications 3+ years of successful B2B inside sales, business development, or outbound account management experience (3PL, freight brokerage, or supply chain experience is a major plus). Proven track record of generating new revenue from scratch via consistent cold calling ( 50–100+ outbound touchpoints daily ). Strong negotiation instincts with a solid understanding of margin management, rate structures, and deal closing. High resilience, competitive drive, and comfort operating under individual gross-profit or volume targets. Sharp verbal communication, fast problem-solving instincts, and the ability to multitask in a rapid, real-time environment. High CRM/TMS discipline regarding call logs, pipeline data, and client notes. Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent practical sales track record.
