Global Pet Foods is currently seeking a Full-Time Pet Specialist Focusing on Inventory Management! Reports To: Training & Development Manager Position Summary The Inventory-Focused Pet Specialist is responsible for delivering excellent customer service while supporting accurate and efficient inventory management within the store. Working closely with the Training & Development Manager and Inventory Support Team, this role helps maintain inventory accuracy, monitor stock levels, identify and resolve discrepancies, and ensure inventory procedures and operational standards are consistently followed. This position is responsible for effective expiry management, conducting daily inventory audits and cycle counts, identifying and resolving stock discrepancies, and ensuring proper product rotation to minimize expired products. The Pet Specialist will collaborate with the Training & Development Manager to implement inventory best practices, improve operational processes, and address inventory-related challenges, including receiving discrepancies, negative on-hand quantities, stock adjustments, and product returns. While inventory management is a key focus of this position, providing exceptional customer service and supporting daily store operations remain essential responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Customer Experience Create an exceptional customer experience during every visit. Greet customers promptly and provide friendly, knowledgeable service. Assist customers with selecting products based on their pets' individual needs. Recommend appropriate products and solutions while supporting store sales goals. Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently. Maintain strong product knowledge, including pet nutrition, food, treats, and accessories. Represent Global Pet Foods positively and contribute to a welcoming store environment. Inventory Management & Accuracy Work closely with the Training & Development Manager and Inventory Support Team to maintain accurate inventory records. Conduct daily inventory audits and cycle counts to verify stock quantities. Identify, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies. Monitor and correct negative on-hand quantities in accordance with inventory procedures. Assist with stock adjustments, product returns, and inventory reconciliation. Follow established inventory procedures and contribute to improving inventory accuracy. Expiry Management & Product Rotation Conduct regular expiry date checks across all product categories. Maintain proper product rotation using the First Expired, First Out (FEFO) method. Identify, report, maintain accurate documentation for short-dated, expired, or damaged products. Work with the Training & Development Manager and Inventory Support Team to address short-dated inventory and minimize product expiry losses. Store Operations Assist with daily opening and closing procedures as assigned. Receive shipments and verify product quantities against invoices and purchase orders. Identify and report receiving discrepancies, shortages, and damaged products. Ensure products are properly labelled, priced, and stocked. Maintain organized shelves, stockrooms, and inventory storage areas. Replenish merchandise to ensure product availability. Support promotional execution and merchandising standards. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and safety standards. Follow cash-handling and loss prevention procedures. Complete assigned daily operational tasks accurately and efficiently. Communication & Collaboration Maintain regular communication with the Training & Development Manager regarding inventory accuracy, expiry management, and operational concerns. Work collaboratively with the Inventory Support Team to investigate and resolve inventory-related issues. Utilize established documentation and reporting tools to communicate daily inventory audits, cycle counts, discrepancies, and outstanding inventory concerns.
