In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating a 5-ton truck to transport freight and goods to various destinations. Your expertise in commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, and automotive repair will ensure timely deliveries and smooth operations. Responsibilities Safely operate a 5-ton truck for local and regional freight deliveries, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as dollies, pallet jacks, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify maintenance needs or safety issues. Maintain accurate delivery logs, shipment documentation, and delivery schedules. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients to coordinate pick-up and drop-off times. Perform minor automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to keep the truck in optimal condition. Follow safety protocols at all times, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to company policies. Qualifications Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Proven experience operating heavy trucks or similar vehicles in a commercial setting. Knowledge of forklift operation for loading and unloading freight. Familiarity with freight handling procedures and securement techniques. Basic automotive repair skills for routine maintenance checks. Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Strong communication skills and attention to detail. Primary product we haul, appliances, so it will be a heavy hands on work, you must be fit and ready to complete the tasks of offloading/loading your vehicle.
