3PL Logistics Coordinator
WHSmithWHSmith North America operates airport and transit retail stores across the United States. The 3PL Logistics Coordinator is the WHSmith on-site lead at our Florida third-party logistics (3PL) facility supporting our stores at Orlando International Airport (MCO). The role receives store-specific inventory shipped from our Northeast Regional Distribution Center in New Jersey and from our national distribution partners, holds it on behalf of each store, picks what each store requests, and delivers it to the airport in a company-leased box truck. This is a hands-on position that combines warehouse work, delivery driving, and day-to-day relationship management with store teams and logistics partners. The coordinator works independently on site and reports to a manager based in New Jersey. Key Responsibilities Receiving and Inventory Control Receive scheduled inbound trailers from the Northeast Regional Distribution Center and verify cartons and pallets against shipping documents and carton manifests. Receive sealed cartons from national distribution and technology product partners on behalf of each MCO store and direct them to the correct store without opening them. Complete dock receipt checks on every delivery: photograph pallets, record damage on the bill of lading, and confirm carton counts against the bill of lading. Store inventory in a clean, organized layout segregated by store, and keep on-hand records accurate by store and SKU. Perform regular inventory counts and reconcile any variances. Order Picking and Staging Pick case-level orders based on store requests by SKU. Build, label and stage store orders for delivery using manual material handling equipment (pallet jack, hand truck, U-boat carts). Plan daily picks so every store receives product on its scheduled delivery days. Delivery Drive the company-leased 26 ft box truck (non-CDL) on the daily delivery run to the airport receiving and breakdown provider on scheduled run days. Load and secure the truck safely, complete delivery paperwork, and obtain proof of delivery at handoff. Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, keep required vehicle records, and report maintenance or safety issues promptly. Follow all traffic laws, company driving policies, and airport delivery and security procedures. Store and Partner Relationships Serve as the primary day-to-day logistics contact for MCO store leadership on deliveries, order requests, timing, and issues. Coordinate with the airport breakdown provider on delivery times, dock access, and handoff. Act as the day-to-day WHSmith contact with the 3PL facility team on site access, dock scheduling, space, and housekeeping. Escalate contract, billing, and commercial matters to the 3PL Contract Manager. Communicate with the Northeast Regional Distribution Center on inbound timing, shortages, and replenishment needs. Discrepancy and Damage Reporting Email the planning team when a discrepancy is found at the dock, and submit a ticket in the company ticketing system after the detail check is complete. Document damaged product with photos and report it following company procedure. Reporting and Process Provide daily and weekly updates to the 3PL Contract Manager on deliveries, inventory, and open issues. Follow standard operating procedures and recommend process improvements based on day-to-day experience.
