POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible in assisting Operations Manager in the effective execution of warehouse operations and coordination with all departments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversee all day to day warehouse operations within shipping, receiving and transportation to assure seamless handoff of the day shift.
2. Develop, coach and mentor staff through effective use of continuous feedback and communication.
3. Ensure timely loading of local delivery and third-party trucks.
4. Execute the Operational goals and objectives provided by the Operations Manager.
5. Monitor progress of the goals and provide regular reporting to the Operations Manager.
6. Provide daily direction to supervisors.
7. Ensure all direct reports are properly trained in their necessary duties and suggest training to improve the required skills and performance.
8. Assist in the hiring of new employees, training, disciplinary procedures and performance reviews.
9. Oversee the signoff of night shift warehouse payroll.
10. Assist in the management of the weekly schedule for adequate staffing levels throughout warehouse and transportation.
11. Ensure that returns/rejections are properly processed and put away.
12. Close the facility in a thorough and safe manner.
13. Promote safety throughout the warehouse. Ensure that accident procedures are followed, and corrective actions are taken.
14. Follow all company policies and procedures to include compliance with food safety and HACCP program requirements.
15. Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum of 2 years distribution management experience.
3. Broad understanding in Federal and State regulations pertaining to transportation.
4. Effective communication and customer service skills.
5. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and consistently meet tight timelines.
6. Proficient with computer and appropriate software.
7. Experience in the use of material handling equipment (electric pallet jack, forklift) required.
8. Knowledge of USDA fresh fruit and vegetable grading standards preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. The employee will occasionally work in the warehouse where the temperatures range from 33 – 55 degrees.
