Position Summary
The 2nd shift(split shift) Supply Chain Analyst is responsible for coordinating daily shipping execution to support on-time, accurate order fulfillment in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. This role releases sales orders for picking, prioritizes work for warehouse pickers, and manages urgent customer needs including “raving fans” and hot list items. The Shipping Planner works cross-functionally with customer service, production, warehouse, and transportation/logistics teams to align shipment priorities, resolve issues, and maintain smooth flow through the shipping process.
This position requires strong execution, sound judgment, and a data-driven approach to improving efficiency, accuracy, and on-time performance. The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, comfortable working in fast-paced operations, and able to balance day-to-day shipping demands with continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Release sales orders to the warehouse for picking in alignment with shipping schedules, inventory availability, and business priorities.
- Prioritize daily work for pickers to support customer commitments, operational efficiency, and on-time shipment performance.
- Review and action urgent customer requests, including raving fans, hot list items, expedites, and other prioritized orders.
- Coordinate shipment flow across customer service, production, warehouse, and transportation/logistics to ensure timely execution.
- Monitor open orders, shipping queues, and order status to identify risks, bottlenecks, and exceptions requiring escalation or intervention.
- Resolve shipping and fulfillment issues such as order holds, inventory discrepancies, schedule conflicts, missing information, and shipment readiness concerns.
- Communicate priority changes and shipment status updates clearly to warehouse and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support schedule coordination to align order release timing with labor capacity, material availability, and outbound transportation plans.
- Use ERP, WMS, and reporting tools to manage order flow, track execution, and maintain data accuracy.
- Analyze shipping, fulfillment, and service data to identify trends and recommend actions that improve:
- On-time shipment performance
- Pick accuracy
- Throughput
- Backlog management
- Overall process efficiency
- Prepare and maintain operational metrics, daily status reports, and exception reporting for team and leadership visibility.
- Escalate critical service risks or operational constraints in a timely manner and help drive resolution.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to order management, shipping processes, warehouse execution, and service performance.
- Help standardize processes, work instructions, and prioritization methods to improve consistency and execution quality.
- Maintain a strong focus on customer service while balancing operational realities and business priorities.
Qualifications / Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, business, or a related field is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, shipping, planning, logistics, or order fulfillment environment.
- Experience coordinating order flow, shipping execution, or work prioritization in an operational setting.
- Experience working with customer priorities, expedites, or service-sensitive orders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using ERP and/or warehouse management systems to manage orders and shipping activity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including sorting, filtering, lookups, pivot tables, and basic data analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across functions.
- Proven attention to detail, follow-through, and problem-solving capability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing environment supporting warehouse and shipping operations.
- Experience with sales order release, pick prioritization, and outbound shipment coordination.
- Familiarity with service-level prioritization tools such as hot lists, escalations, or customer-critical order management.
- Experience with KPI reporting and performance analysis in shipping or fulfillment operations.
- Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Kaizen, or standard work.
- Experience working closely with customer service, production scheduling, and transportation/logistics teams.

Working Environment
- Based at Xylem’s Morton Grove, Illinois manufacturing and administration site.
- Works in a manufacturing, warehouse, and shipping execution environment with regular coordination across office and operational teams.
- Role requires frequent interaction with warehouse operations, customer service, production, and logistics stakeholders.
- Work involves managing multiple priorities, responding to changing conditions, and supporting time-sensitive customer and operational needs.
- May require routine use of computer systems, ERP, and operational reporting tools throughout the day.
