Job Description

De Beers Group has an opportunity for a motivated individual to join the Supply Chain department at the Gahcho Kué Mine Site based in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Logistics and Warehousing Superintendent, this role is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective operation of the Mobile Maintenance Warehousing function for the mine site. The Supervisor will oversee the daily activities of the warehousing function ensuring parts and materials are available to support the timely maintenance and repairs of Mobile equipment. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe work practices and strives for zero harm.

What this Role Entails:

  • Adheres to De Beers Canada Safety, Health and Environmental policies and systems;
  • Establishes and maintains safe work practices and ensures legal compliance;
  • Supervises and manages the effectiveness and performance of warehouse team;
  • Manages warehouse operations including receiving, storing picking, issuing and delivering of materials to end-users;
  • Initiates and monitors priority expediting requests for critical items;
  • Performs regular weekly, monthly, and annual inventory cycle-counting;
  • Coordinates outbound shipments of parts and material for return or repair;
  • Champions continuous improvement initiatives and implements action to ensure effective warehouse operations;
  • Establishes good working relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues to drive alignment on operations plans and strategies;
  • Ensures facility and equipment maintenance is performed in a timely manner; and
  • Provides coverage for Logistics Supervisor as required.

This is a site based position working a 14 days in/14 days our rotation.

Qualifications

Formal Qualifications:

  • Experience in Warehouse/Logistics Supervision on a remote mine site (3-5 years);
  • Experience in Parts Distribution, Inventory Management, Material Handling, Supply Chain and Logistics (10+ years);
  • Ability to operate with intermediate proficiency in SAP, MS Office and computerized Inventory Management systems;
  • Ability to work strategically and analytically within and external to the department;
  • Ability to manage change and navigate through conflict to maintain team effectiveness;
  • Ability in seeking different perspective in problem solving and business optimization; and
  • Ability to continuously improve the department through inclusiveness, innovation, influence and mentoring.

Beneficial If You Have:

  • Journeyperson Parts Technician Red Seal Certification; and/or
  • Post-secondary education in a related field.

Please note:

  • Preference will be given to Members of the Deninu Kué, Lutsel K’e Dene First Nation, North Slave Métis Alliance, Northwest Territory Métis Nation, Tlicho Government, or Yellowknives Dene First Nation, followed by non-indigenous residents of the Northwest Territories.
