Primary Responsibilities

 The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations within a multi-temperature food-grade distribution centre, including ambient, refrigerated, and frozen areas. This role ensures efficient, safe, and compliant handling of products while leading warehouse associates in a non-union environment. The Supervisor supports food safety and quality programs, drives operational efficiency, and ensures customer and transportation requirements are consistently met.  As with all positions at Tree of Life Canada we expect that all actions will be consistent with Tree of Life Canada’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Essential Functions

  •  Supervise daily warehouse operations across ambient, refrigerated, and frozen storage areas, including receiving, production, storage, picking, inventory movement, and shipping.
  • Support and actively participate in food safety programs including SQF (Safe Quality Food)
  • Participate on Health and Safety Committees and maintain working knowledge of accident reporting and investigations
  • Establish, implement, and maintain operational policies and procedures
  • Monitor workflow, productivity, and labour utilization across multiple temperature zones
  • Troubleshoot system and operational issues impacting timely receiving or delivery of product
  • Maintain working knowledge of cycle counts and inventory movement
  • Ensure high standards related to the physical condition of the warehouse, temperature-controlled areas, and all equipment
  • Lead, coach, and motivate warehouse associates in a union/non-union environment
  • Ensure warehouse associate training is completed in a timely manner.
  • Conduct shift meetings, performance coaching, and discipline in accordance with company policies
  • Support a positive and engaged workplace culture and promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in all temperature zones
  • Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of warehouse/logistics management experience
  • Experience in a multi-temperature, food-grade distribution environment preferred
  • Experience supervising in a union/non-union environment

Certifications & Technical Skills

  • Current forklift and powered equipment license and training certificate preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office required
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of WMS, cycle counting, and inventory movement

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; fluent in English
  • Excellent customer service-oriented attitude with ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible, and professional
  • Strong judgment, reasoning ability, and decision-making skills
