Essential Details
Shift: Third Shift (6:00 PM – until completion)
Schedule: Monday through Friday; occasional weekends and holidays may be required. Schedule is subject to change based on warehouse volume and operational needs
Department: Grocery / Dry Goods
Location: 1500 Brooks Ave, Rochester, NY
Competitive Salary: $64,000

What You’ll Own
As a Department Manager, you are the decision-maker on the floor. You’ll lead unloading operations, direct your team, and ensure every shift runs safely, efficiently, and on time.
Direct daily warehouse operations and unloading activities
Assign work, manage workflows, and ensure timely completion of all loads
Lead, coach, and develop associates, leads, and backup leads
Drive hiring, promotions, and performance management decisions
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of daily operational activity
Partner with operations leadership, customers, and transportation teams
Maintain compliance with all FHI policies, procedures, and safety standards

Day-to-Day Leadership
Run daily huddles to align the team on goals and assignments
Monitor performance and adjust workflows in real time
Conduct safety inspections and enforce safe work practices
Ensure clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas
Verify load accuracy and completion
Oversee timekeeping, audits, and approvals
Train and mentor team members to build bench strength
What You Bring
Experience in warehouse, distribution, or unloading operations
1+ years of leadership experience (preferred)
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage people, production, and priorities simultaneously
Basic math and attention to detail
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check and drug test
We believe that skills and experience are what truly matter. While education can be a valuable asset, it is not a strict requirement for success in this role.
