Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Warehouse Clerk/Driver is responsible for performing a variety of warehouse and delivery duties, including receiving, storing, inventorying, and issuing materials, products, and supplies. This position requires the safe and efficient use of powered and non-powered material handling equipment to move, organize, and maintain inventory.

As a driver, this role is also responsible for loading and unloading trucks, verifying deliveries, breaking down loads, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of products to customers. The Warehouse Clerk/Driver plays a key role in supporting operational efficiency, maintaining accurate inventory records, and upholding company standards for safety, professionalism, and customer service.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Receiving & Inventory Management

  • Receive trucks and unload merchandise
  • Store packaged food products, liquids, and convenience items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas
  • Check in merchandise and affix labels
  • Match purchase orders to sales orders and distribute to sales associates for processing
  • Fulfill customer orders accurately and efficiently
  • Move materials off racks and package for shipment
  • Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items
  • Place merchandise on pallets or shelves for distribution
  • Stack merchandise on racks
  • Sort material according to size, type, style, color, or product code
  • Determine and execute proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on shelf life and space availability

Delivery & Customer Service

  • Deliver customer orders in company vehicles and properly check in deliveries
  • Properly count and verify all items upon delivery
  • Verify delivery paperwork and obtain required signatures or confirmations
  • Required to drive a 26’ box (Bobtail) truck safely and in compliance with all traffic laws and company standards

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety codes and company safety policies
  • Practice personal safety and vigilance in identifying safety and security hazards to support a safe and hazard-free working environment
  • Use proper body mechanics while lifting to avoid injuries and comply with safe handling procedures regarding receiving, storing, and shipping materials, supplies, and/or equipment
  • Discern details to receive, store, and ship materials and supplies in a safe manner

Administrative & Technical Skills

  • Perform mathematical computations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, and percentages) for checking, counting, shipping, and tracking materials
  • Read and comprehend written materials (e.g., references, summaries, memos, letters) to apply information and determine appropriate courses of action
  • Verify documentation accuracy for warehouse, delivery, and inventory transactions
  • Follow instructions and ensure comprehensive follow-through on assigned tasks

Housekeeping & Operational Support

  • Participate in maintaining warehouse cleanliness
  • Maintain organized, efficient, and clean work areas, storage racks, and delivery vehicles
  • Carry out tasks as assigned by the Warehouse Manager or Warehouse Supervisor
  • Complete tasks in a timely, detailed, and orderly manner

Education and Work Experience

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in a warehouse preferred
  • Customer service experience a plus
  • Computer knowledge and/or ability to learn computer programs
  • Must be 25 years of age or older
  • Clear/clean driving record, and insurable

Skill Set

  • Possess a valid Class C driver’s license (no CDL required)
  • Ability to drive a 26’ box (Bobtail) truck and be insurable under the company’s driving policy
  • Knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in receiving, storing, and shipping materials and supplies, including proper packing and unpacking procedures
  • Familiarity with common forms and documents used in receiving and shipping departments
  • Proficient in operating forklifts and other powered and non-powered materials handling equipment
  • Understanding of inventory management methods, including taking inventories and maintaining accurate records
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions at a level required for successful job performance
  • Ability to make accurate mathematical computations related to warehouse work
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in varying and extreme temperatures
