The Transportation Worker 2 Traffic Control will be assigned to the District Four Sign Shop, but will report to various counties including: Doddridge, Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston, and Taylor. Under general supervision, an employee in this class performs manual and skilled work maintaining and repairing roadway signs. Key responsibilities include receiving and executing work orders for daily tasks, equipment, and materials. The worker is responsible for assisting with the installation and repairs of signs on breakaway supports in accordance with state standards and specifications. The employee must follow all procedures for traffic control and worksite safety, assist with monitoring material inventories, report material usage and needs to the supervisor, and report on the status of work performed to the crew supervisor. Performs other related duties as required.

• Ability to use hand tools and operate motorized equipment in the area of assignment.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to train and work cooperatively with other skilled and semi-skilled workers.
REQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION: No formal education required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in roadway maintenance, traffic control, equipment operation or maintenance, or the fabrication of aluminum / other metal parts / other fabricated materials, comparable to the work performed by the Division of Highways.
Experience Substitution: Successful completion of an approved vocational school program in the area of assignment may be substituted for the required experience in the specified functional area.
