Reports To: Director of Transportation Operations

Pay Range: $20.00-$21.00/hour

Position Overview:

JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the On the Go team as a Transportation Specialist. In this role, you’ll be the first point of contact for older adults requesting transportation services that help them maintain independence and age in place with dignity. You’ll have the opportunity to provide compassionate, high-quality customer service over the phone and offer administrative support to ensure smooth operations. This position reports directly to the Director of Transportation Operations and works closely with the Transportation Manager and the rest of the On the Go team. Responsibilities:

  • Handle high-volume inbound and outbound calls from riders, volunteers, and drivers, ensuring a positive and professional experience
  • Resolve transportation concerns promptly, using effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Accurately enter and update rides with the highest level of accuracy across multiple web-based scheduling systems
  • Explain program details, eligibility requirements, and services to new and existing riders with clarity and professionalism
  • Oversee administration of customer satisfaction surveys and compile results for program evaluation
  • Monitor and track program parameters to ensure operational efficiency and funder compliance
  • Maintain compliance with agency policies, HIPAA, and confidentiality standards
  • Follow and uphold transportation safety protocols and procedures
  • Troubleshoot scheduling software issues and liaise with technical support as needed
  • Maintain proficiency in all transportation-related technology platforms and tools
  • Update agency database (ETOI)
  • Ensure new riders receive welcome materials and program information
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of transportation programs
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities
  • Support general administrative duties
  • Contribute to special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned
  • Perform other duties as required by the supervisor

Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:

  • One year of experience working with older adults and/or in the transportation field
  • High school diploma

Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:

  • 1-2 years related work experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Spanish/English bilingual preferred
  • Basic typing and computer skills
  • Demonstrated experience to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, including through email, TEAMS posts, and internal communications
  • Experience working with older adults and volunteers a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task
  • Excellent phone and customer service etiquette
  • Ability to use multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions
  • Active listener
  • Problem solving/critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to adapt and remain flexible in a dynamic environment
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, TEAMS and PowerPoint

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Use a computer, keyboard, monitor, printer
