Under limited supervision, the Transportation Procurement Specialist 2 in this position will serve in the Procurement Division's Buyer or Inventory sections. Performs professional, full-performance level work procuring a variety of goods and services used for the operation of the West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT). This position is responsible for the interpretation and application of related policies and procedures established by the Purchasing Division and the Auditor’s Office. May be required to monitor inventory and/or fixed assets, and follow surplus property procedures for the disposition of fixed assets. Work includes reviewing requisition specifications, administering the competitive bid process, reviewing bids, and awarding purchase orders to the appropriate responsible bidder. Work at this level is complex with broader discretion and strict accountability for organizing and completing assignments. Will provide advice and guidance in the procurement of goods and services through the interpretation and application of policies and procedures. Perform related duties as required.
Note: Preference will be given to candidates who possess an active certificate from the WV Purchasing Certification program administered through the West Virginia Purchasing Division.
