Passport Trucking is Ontario’s leading intermodal transportation company, specializing in container cargo delivery throughout Ontario. With a focus on local routes within Ontario, our drivers can support locally thriving communities and businesses.
 
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Transportation Planner (Dispatcher) to coordinate transportation and logistics operations within our supply chain. Hours would be afternoon/evening shift Monday - Friday.
 
The ideal candidate will efficiently manage freight movements, fleet planning, and communicate effectively with drivers and clients. The candidate will utilize transportation management systems & electronic log devices to ensure timely delivery while also communicating with other team members within the Passport Trucking team (dispatch, repair and maintenance, management) along with logistics and documentation teams to ensure required information is communicated in a clear and time efficient manner.

Job Responsibility

  • Coordinate and schedule container shipments
  • Communicate with drivers, clients, and internal teams via multiple communication channels
  • Obtain gate appointment reservations, and submit shipping line rail bills in a timely manner
  • Monitor operations, troubleshoot issues, and provide analysis to optimize freight routes and delivery times
  • Maintain detailed records of shipments, deliveries, and related activities for reporting purposes
  • Collaborate with third-party logistics providers to facilitate seamless transportation services
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies during all logistical activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
 
Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems
  • Strong data entry skills with high levels of organization & accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with professional phone etiquette
  • Analytical skills to assess freight data, identify issues, and recommend improvements
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes, freight management, shipping & receiving procedures
  • Experience working with CN/CP and container empty depots a plus
  • Experience coordinating with owner-operators, company drivers, and third-party carriers a plus
  • Familiarity with shipping documentation and compliance standards.
