SUMMARY
This position is responsible for transportation logistics, including small package/parcel, pool distribution, and coordinated deliveries supporting new store openings, remodels, and closings through diverse supply chain channels to meet or exceed business needs. 
The Transportation Manager brings expertise in carrier contract negotiations, performance measurement, and analyzing transportation expenses against Profit and Loss statements. This leader conducts periodic evaluations of departmental processes to identify improvement opportunities, implements changes, and supports budget creation, re-forecasting, and strategic evaluations to achieve company goals while fostering cross-functional partnerships.

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive operational performance by establishing clear expectations, frequently reviewing performance, anticipating challenges, and holding individuals accountable       
  • Develop carrier relationships to ensure product flow and movement is as efficient as possible.
  • Compile and analyze current and historical freight spend information to monitor trends, provide root cause analysis, and drive operational improvement plans.
  • Influence and educate key stakeholders to ensure alignment and acceptance of operational improvement solutions.
  • Create, maintain/improve SOP’s quarterly.
  • Maintain open communication with warehouse, store operations, carrier, loss prevention, legal, and Hibbett Fleet regarding any shipping/delivery concerns or issues.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations (e.g., DOT/FMCSA compliance, safety standards).
  • Ensuring compliance with transportation laws, safety protocols, and carrier contracts.
  • Expertise in freight audit and payment (FAP) for multi-modal domestic transportation, with proficiency in using auditor data/reports to audit invoices, manage disputes, and improve payment accuracy.
  • Utilize transportation tools such as BI, PCSTrac, Geotab, etc to manage team outputs and performance indicators
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities (e.g., cost analysis, risk assessment).
  • Complete and present financial reports to leadership.
  • Regular physical attendance is essential for the performance of the job.
  • Protect the company's assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.         
  • Champion Change initiatives and continuous improvement while maintaining operational effectiveness and success.
  • Manage Hibbett fleet while optimizing driver/route efficiency.
  • Manage local fleet OS&D

 
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience in Transportation Management.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Supervisor/Management experience
  • Self-directed and goal-oriented
  • Retail Distribution and Fulfillment knowledge preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, WMS, and TMS
  • Warehouse experience preferred.  

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.  
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
