Position Overview:

The Transportation Lead provides oversight, coordination, and operational support for transportation services within a federally contracted ICE short-term residential facility in Alexandria, LA.

 

Working under the direction of facility leadership, the Transportation Lead is responsible for coordinating daily transportation operations, scheduling resident transports, assigning transportation staff, and ensuring the safe, timely, and compliant movement of residents to and from medical appointments, court appearances, government offices, airport transfers, and other approved destinations within an approximately 25-mile radius of the facility.

 

This role serves as the primary on-site transportation point of contact and provides direct support in a 24-hour operational environment. The Transportation Lead ensures all transportation activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with facility policies, contractual requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.


Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Transportation Operations & Coordination

  • Coordinate daily transportation schedules for residents based on appointments, facility priorities, and operational needs.
  • Assign transportation staff to trips, routes, and scheduled transports.
  • Ensure timely completion of all resident transportation services.
  • Monitor transportation workflow and adjust assignments as needed to meet operational demands.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for transportation requests, updates, and scheduling changes.
  • Coordinate with healthcare staff, family services, and security regarding transportation needs.
  • Ensure transportation services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with facility policies.

Resident Transportation Services

  • Provide direct transportation for residents to approved destinations including medical appointments, airport transfers, and other authorized locations.
  • Ensure residents are transported in a safe, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Verify resident identity and required documentation prior to transport.
  • Maintain accountability of residents throughout transportation activities.
  • Assist residents with entering and exiting vehicles when appropriate.
  • Respond to delays, emergencies, or changes in transportation plans as needed.

Vehicle Operations & Fleet Oversight

  • Ensure safe operation of facility transportation vehicles including passenger vans, SUVs, and other assigned vehicles (No CDL required).
  • Conduct and/or oversee pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, properly maintained, and ready for use.
  • Report maintenance issues and coordinate vehicle servicing as needed.
  • Maintain vehicle logs, mileage records, and transportation documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation safety standards and regulations.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate transportation schedules, logs, and activity documentation.
  • Document resident movements, mileage, incidents, and transportation activities.
  • Review transportation records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure confidentiality of resident information and protected records.
  • Support audits, compliance monitoring, and reporting requirements as needed.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Provide direction, support, and oversight to Transportation Staff.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring transportation personnel.
  • Promote adherence to safety procedures, facility policies, and operational standards.
  • Monitor staff performance and communicate concerns to leadership.
  • Foster a professional, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Lead by example in professionalism, safety, and service delivery.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all facility policies, transportation procedures, and contractual requirements.
  • Enforce safety protocols, incident reporting requirements, and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure required training and certifications are completed and maintained.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
  • Support a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate effectively with healthcare staff, family services, security, and facility leadership.
  • Participate in shift briefings, operational meetings, and coordination updates.
  • Provide clear updates regarding transportation status, issues, and scheduling changes.
  • Maintain a professional, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approach in all interactions.


Required Qualifications & Core Competencies:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of professional driving, transportation, customer service, security, healthcare support, residential services, or related experience preferred.
  • No Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
  • Prior lead, supervisory, or coordinator experience.
  • Ability to safely operate passenger vans, SUVs, and other standard passenger vehicles.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in dynamic environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a 24-hour operational environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and record keeping accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required background clearances.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English for documentation and coordination purposes.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience transporting individuals in healthcare, residential, correctional, shelter, hospitality, or government-contracted environments.
  • Experience working with pediatric, family, or residential populations.
  • Experience supervising or coordinating transportation staff.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or another commonly encountered language.
  • Training in Trauma-Informed Care, crisis intervention, or de-escalation techniques.
  • Knowledge of local roadways, transportation logistics, and route planning.
  • Experience working in secure or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.

  • Employees must adhere to all federal security, confidentiality, and operational protocols while working within government facilities.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
  • Anovaeon operates 24 hours/365 days and requires the flexibility to work additional hours, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must show proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Internal background check to the satisfaction of contract requirements.
  • If applicable, Child Abuse/ Neglect Report (CAN) or child protective services check with no adverse findings.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
  • Ability to enter and exit vehicles frequently throughout the workday.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility and community locations as needed.
  • Ability to lift and transport luggage, personal belongings, supplies, and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and unexpected situations.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles in varying weather and traffic conditions.

Work Environment:

  • Fully on-site position at a federally contracted short-term residential ICE facility in Alexandria, LA.
  • Frequent local travel throughout the workday within an approximately 25-mile radius of the facility.
  • Work involves transporting residents to medical appointments, airport transfers, and other approved destinations.
  • Fast-paced, high-volume residential environment supporting individuals and families in short-term residential care.
  • Work schedules may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts to support 24-hour operations.
  • Position requires regular operation of company-owned passenger vehicles and interaction with community service providers.
