RSU5 is seeking a Transportation Coordinator to ensure the safe, efficient, and economical transportation of students to and from school, special events, and field trips. Reporting to the Director of Transportation, this year round position oversees daily routing and scheduling using computerized software, coordinates driver safety training, and assists the Director with coordinating fleet maintenance in compliance with DOT and state regulations. Additionally, the role acts as the primary liaison for parents and administration regarding route logistics or safety concerns, while assisting with department budget preparation, expense tracking, and mandatory state compliance reporting.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma (Associate or Bachelor's degree in business or logistics preferred) and brings 2-3 years of experience in transportation operations or school bus supervision. A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with passenger and school bus endorsements is preferred (not required), along with proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace. Candidates must have the ability to navigate high-pressure situations and rapidly changing priorities, and be available for flexible hours, including early morning dispatch.

Salary range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000 depending upon experience.

         Requirements:

Must hold a valid CHRC Certification from the ME Dept. of Education.
