Cascade Christian Schools is seeking a dedicated and organized Director of Transportation to oversee the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the school district’s transportation services. The Director will manage a fleet consisting of a Blue Bird All American school bus (capacity: 84 students/56 adults) and a Chevrolet Express 3500 van/mini bus (capacity: 14 passengers). The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, ensuring the transportation needs of our growing school community are met with professionalism and care.  Come join our team as we make a real difference!

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with a need for accommodation to perform the essential functions of this job.This role will primarily support transportation for junior high and high school athletics teams, with additional responsibilities for field trips, performances, and other district-wide needs.

  • Primary Driver: Serve as the primary driver for the Blue Bird All American school bus
  • Secondary Driver Coordination: Occasionally drive the Chevrolet Express 3500 van/mini bus and coordinate with other qualifidd drivers to ensure adequate coverage for transportation needs.
  • Oversee and execute all maintenance and care for both vehicles, including scheduling routine maintenance, coordinating repairs, ensuring regular cleaning and washing, and managing fuel refills to keep vehicles in optimal condition.
  • Develop and manage transportation schedules for all athletic and non-athletic district needs. Determine and communicate bus departure and estimated return times to relevant stakeholders. Coordinate with third-party charter companies when the district’s vehicles are unavailable to meet transportation demands.
  • Ensure all transportation activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including driver certifications, vehicle inspections, and student safety protocols. Maintain accurate records for vehicle maintenance, driver logs, and transportation schedules.
  • Work closely with athletic directors, coaches, teachers, and administrators to ensure transportation aligns with event schedules and school priorities. Provide clear and timely communication to all stakeholders regarding transportation logistics.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to assess and plan for the future transportation needs of Cascade Christian Schools, including fleet expansion, budgeting, and infrastructure improvements to support the district’s growth.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of Cascade Christian Schools.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Agrees with Cascade Christian Schools’ Teaching Statement and Statement of Faith
  • Christian Role model in attitude, speech, and action
  • A completed CCS application for position filled out and submitted to HR
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification required
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsement, or willingness to obtain within [insert timeframe, e.g., 3 months] of hire.
  • Current DOT medical certification
  • Clean driving record and a minimum of 3 years of experience driving large vehicles, preferably school buses.
  • Familiarity with federal and state transportation regulations, including Washington State school bus safety standards.
  • Additional trips for district needs (e.g. field trips, special events) as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to problem-solve and make sound decisions under pressure, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, staff, parents, and external vendors.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, scheduling software) for record-keeping and communication.
  • Complete mandated school related training annually

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Previous experience in transportation coordination or fleet management, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience working with third-party transportation providers or charter companies.
  • Mechanical knowledge or experience overseeing vehicle maintenance programs.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving and perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for vehicle maintenance tasks or loading/unloading equipment.
  • Ability to assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including those with special needs, if required.

WORK ENVIROMENT:

  • Work involves a combination of driving, office-based scheduling, and outdoor vehicle maintenance tasks.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or irregular hours based on athletic and school event schedules.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions during vehicle inspections, cleaning, or refueling.

WORK HOURS: 30+ hours per week

 

START DATE: Immediately

 

SALARY RANGE: $33 - $38 per hour, Depending on experience
