As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you will undertake various technical responsibilities related to the inspection of materials and workmanship on highway construction projects within Engineering District 10-0. Your primary objective will be to ensure that all work adheres to the approved construction codes, plans, standards, and specifications. It is crucial to inspect all phases of transportation construction, which includes assisting in verifying grades, elevations, and the layout of structures and roadways alongside contractors and surveyors. You will also be responsible for examining the placement of materials such as cement concrete, bituminous concrete, and drainage materials; as well as completing compaction testing of sub-surface strata, soils, and aggregates using visual non-movement methods. This position gives you the opportunity to engage with department staff, various agencies, legislators, and the public to facilitate the effective management of projects.
