[TEMPORARY] Welcome Center Specialist
Brooklyn Emerging Leaders Academy Charter School (BELA), an all-girls high school located in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, is grounded in the core values of Sisterhood, Scholarship, Strength, and Service. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, BELA is committed to implementing the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) with fidelity. Staff members are expected to engage deeply with IB philosophy, instructional practices, curriculum development, and assessment frameworks. BELA invests in ongoing professional development and training to ensure all educators are equipped to deliver rigorous, inquiry-based instruction aligned to IB standards and practices.
The position is part-time and temporary position ending September 1, 2026;
20 hours per week at a rate of $15-25 per hour.
Responsibilities:
1. Welcome Center Management
Greet and assist all students, staff, families, and visitors with professionalism and warmth.
Answer and direct phone calls and emails promptly and accurately.
Manage incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming welcome center.
2. Administrative Support
Maintain updated student and family contact records in the school database.
Help track and maintain inventory of front office and school supplies.
Assist with new student and family enrollment and registration.
3. Family and Student Communication
Serve as a friendly and informed point of contact for family questions and requests.
Share key school updates and notices with families in collaboration with the operations and leadership teams.
Ensure all communication reflects BELA’s values and high standards of care and professionalism.
Translate and support multilingual family engagement as needed.
4. Operational Support
Assist with logistics for student arrival, dismissal, and emergencies.
Manage the school’s daily food program operations, including meal distribution, vendor coordination, and compliance tracking.
Obtain a valid NYC Food Handler License by August 15, 2025, to support food program responsibilities.
Collaborate with the operations team on event support, compliance, and reporting.
Support coordination of student records and file management in accordance with charter requirements. .
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive student and staff information at all times.
