The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.
Position Summary/Details:
The Student will work with Operation Engineering on distribution system protection, protection coordination, power quality, and reliability. They will investigate reliability referrals, develop action plans to remedy issues, create work requests to implement proposed solutions, and respond to customers once issues have been resolved.
Accountabilities:
Physical Location of Intern: Central Service Area (CSA) Bldg C 2200 E. Sligh Ave Tampa, FL. 33610
Working Conditions: Mostly in a normal office environment, a successful candidate will visit field locations approximately weekly. This will include riding in a company vehicle on-road and off-road, walking on uneven surfaces, and entering substations.
Preferred Availability: Part-Time (30 - 40 hours)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Position Requirements: Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering
Preferred/Related Discipline: Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical
Year in School: Junior or Senior
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Microsoft Office and Basic Understanding of Power Systems
Emera Leadership Competencies:
