Codexis, a biotechnology company based in Redwood City, CA, is looking to hire a Supply Chain Manager.

Codexis is a leading enzyme engineering company leveraging its proprietary CodeEvolver® technology platform to discover, develop and enhance novel, high-performance enzymes and other classes of proteins. Codexis enzymes solve for real-world challenges associated with small molecule pharmaceuticals manufacturing and nucleic acid synthesis. The Company is currently developing its proprietary ECO Synthesis™ platform to enable the scaled manufacture of RNAi therapeutics through an enzymatic route. About the Opportunity:

As Supply Chain Manager, you sit at the center of how breakthrough ideas become real products in customers’ hands. From the moment an order is placed—whether for a research reagent, a development program, a commercial product, or a critical service—you own the journey end‑to‑end. You translate complex demand into accurate orders, thoughtful allocation, and reliable fulfillment, all while upholding stringent regulatory and quality standards. In close partnership with Supply Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics, Accounting, and Commercial teams, you ensure uninterrupted supply and a consistently exceptional customer experience.

The Supply Chain Manager reports to the Vice President of Supply Chain, within the Technical Operations organization, and is based in Redwood City, California.

Key Responsibilities


In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Supply chain coordination – Partner with Supply Planning, Logistics, and Distribution teams to align supply availability with order demand and support timely, reliable delivery to customers.
  • Order management – Support the end‑to‑end order‑to‑delivery process from order receipt through shipment and confirmation. Review purchase orders and create sales orders in the ERP system, helping ensure accuracy of quantities, pricing, lot assignment, and delivery requirements. Coordinate inventory allocation based on production lead times, inventory availability, and shelf life so customer needs are met.
  • Order fulfillment – In collaboration with Supply Planning, Program Management, Quality, and Logistics, help establish order ship dates, monitor order status, and proactively surface and resolve issues related to inventory shortages, delays, or changes.
  • Stakeholder communication – Serve as a primary order‑management point of contact for internal partners (Supply Chain, Accounting, Program Management). Clearly and proactively communicate order status, delivery timelines, and exceptions, and assist with customer or partner inquiries related to orders and fulfillment.
  • Compliance and quality – Help ensure order‑management activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal quality systems. Maintain accurate documentation and support deviations, investigations, CAPAs, and audits related to order fulfillment.
  • Continuous improvement – Contribute to system enhancements, process improvements, and SOP development for order‑management activities, with a focus on building sustainable, user‑friendly workflows.
  • Analytics and reporting – Generate and analyze reports related to order fulfillment, backorders, service levels, and demand trends. Enhance inventory and order‑management reporting used cross‑functionally to communicate order progression through completion.
  • KPIs and performance insights – Help develop, monitor, and share key performance indicators that provide visibility into order‑processing reliability and efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
  • Systems and data management – Maintain accurate order data in ERP and related order‑management tools and systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite), and partner with cross‑functional teams to keep data and processes aligned.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise


The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related life sciences field
  • 5+ years of experience in order management or supply chain management roles in biotechnology or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle) and advanced planning tools
  • Ability to recognize deviation from accepted practices and develop solutions to non-routine problems
  • Proven experience using data-driven insights to drive process improvement
  • Ability to be onsite, in Redwood City, CA 3 days a week
Additional experience that would be valuable for this role includes:
  • Experience working in GMP, GDP, ISO 9001 regulations and quality systems
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated adaptability and resilience in changing business environments
  • Aptitude to work on duties that range from routine to non-routine in nature where independent action and initiative are required to resolve problems and develop solutions
  • APICS certification
CODEXIS PAY TRANSPARENCY: The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Redwood City is $150,000 to $165,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Codexis is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
