About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

This position will be located in Akron, Ohio at our FirstEnergy Headquarters 

As a Data Analyst in the Supply Chain Analytics group, you will play a key role in transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making across the organization. This role is responsible for transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive procurement strategy, supplier performance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a passion for data storytelling, and the ability to collaborate across business and technology teams.

Responsibilities include:

Data Exploration & Analysis

  • Use SQL, Python, and analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI) to perform investigative and ad-hoc analysis across supply chain and procurement datasets. 
  • Profile data to assess quality, identify anomalies, and uncover trends in spend, supplier performance, and pricing fluctuations.
  •  Perform statistical modeling to develop metrics, reports, and visualizations that support strategic sourcing and negotiation efforts.

Data Quality & Governance

  • Define and monitor data quality metrics across supply chain and procurement systems. 
  • Cleanse and validate supplier and contract data, manage metadata and data lineage, and implement data access controls to ensure compliance with purchasing agreements and support risk mitigation. 
  • Partner with data management roles to identify and capture required data from internal and external sources.

Data Modeling & ETL Support

  • Understand database structures and collaborate on data warehouse schema design to support procurement analytics and demand planning. 
  • Assist in ETL development and validate post-load data to ensure accurate supplier performance metrics and spend categorization. 
  • Create and maintain statistical models for ongoing and ad hoc analysis of procurement and supply chain data.

Reporting & Visualization

  • Develop dashboards and visualizations using Power BI and other data visualization tools to deliver intelligent insights tailored to supply chain and procurement stakeholders. 
  • Use data storytelling techniques to present key metrics such as supplier scorecards, contract compliance, and savings opportunities, aiding in the interpretation of trends and patterns of business importance.

Data Connectivity & Maintenance

  • Determine optimal data connection types for procurement and supply chain sources. 
  • Use Power Query for shaping and transformation of spend and supplier data and manage scheduled refreshes and performance monitoring to ensure timely access to actionable insights.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a liaison between business users, procurement teams, data engineers, and IT.
  • Work closely with technology teams and end-users to understand data and analysis needs, translating them into technical requirements.
  •  Document processes and educate stakeholders on governance practices and analytical tools to enhance understanding of supplier risk, demand planning, and contract adherence.

Continuous Improvement & Operational Support

  • Provide ongoing analytical support for procurement operations and contribute to the evolution of data platforms. 
  • Deploy analytical workflows into production environments to automate supplier evaluations, monitor price trends, and support strategic sourcing initiatives. 
  • Continuously refine statistical models and dashboards to improve decision-making and operational efficiency.

Procurement Support

  • Analyze spend data to identify savings opportunities and procurement trends.
  • Evaluate supplier performance using key metrics and assess price fluctuations to support negotiations.
  • Contribute to demand planning and help mitigate supplier risks.
  • Ensure contract compliance by monitoring adherence to purchasing agreements.
Required Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field with a minimum of 2-4 years relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience. The experience must be at a professional (exempt) level which also includes data reporting, analysis, and recommendations, along with a thorough understanding of the subject matter.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to write and execute complex queries
  • Preferred experience with data analytics tools like SQL, Python, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Data Modeling experience preferred, but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills must be able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with teammates and positions at all levels
  • Strong Analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills are necessary with proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be able to manage multiple and changing priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment ensuring aggressive deadlines are met
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
