SUMMARY:

The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.

OMB’s Learning & Development (L&D) unit designs, implements, and communicates programs that help employees develop their skills, perform effectively, and grow in their careers. L&D collaborates with all divisions, task forces, and units within OMB.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The New York City Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) seeks a Logistics & Event Coordination Summer Intern to join our small L&D team.
High-impact role: Unlike typical internships, you'll work like full-time staff during our busiest season. Expect meaningful responsibilities supporting training programs that strengthen skills across 500+ OMB employees with just our small core team.

Responsibilities:
- Schedule/coordinate training sessions, meetings, events.
- Manage registration, attendance, room setup logistics.
- Handle printing/distribution of training materials.
- Provide onsite and virtual support during events (basic A/V and platform troubleshooting).
- Record event sessions and create recap videos.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred:
- Exceptional organizational/scheduling/time management skills.
- Comfort managing many moving pieces to keep projects on track.
- Basic video recording skills for capturing training sessions.
- Enthusiasm for hands-on event coordination and teamwork in fast-paced settings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and quick to learn new technology.
- Strong interpersonal, written/oral communication skills.
- Proactive with exceptional organizational and creative problem-solving skills.

Bonus:
- Event marketing/promotional experience.
- A/V equipment setup and troubleshooting.
- Graphic design for event materials/posters.
- Website design/maintenance skills.
- Strong writing for event communications.
- Making processes more efficient (streamlining workflows).

REQUIREMENTS:

A cover letter is required to be considered for this position. Applications submitted without a cover letter will not be considered.

Undergraduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into an accredited college or university. Strong analytical, research and communications skills are required. Candidates must have familiarity in MS Word and Excel

To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program, undergraduate students must be enrolled or accepted into a college or university.

Compensation/Duration:

Summer Undergraduate Intern $17.50 per hour

Internships will run for 10 weeks, from June 1, 2026, to August 7, 2026. The work must be done during the regular workday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. – no evenings or weekends.

This is a hybrid position with in-person days located at OMB’s offices at 255 Greenwich Street

Qualifications

As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year.
