DescriptionThe Senior Sourcing Specialist Principle – Surface Transportation, Warehousing & Parcel is responsible for the strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier governance of domestic surface transportation (TL/LTL/Drayage), warehousing/3PL services, and parcel carriers supporting Honeywell Intelligrated’s project execution, aftermarket, and service operations.
This role owns end‑to‑end category strategies that optimize cost, service reliability, capacity availability, and operational risk across a complex, project‑based supply chain. The position requires strong expertise in domestic freight markets, warehousing operations, parcel networks, and strategic sourcing, with the ability to support time‑critical, customer‑driven delivery schedules in a matrixed Honeywell environment.
The Senior Category Manager partners closely with Logistics, Project Management, Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Field Services to ensure transportation and warehousing capabilities align with installation schedules, customer commitments, and business growth.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Ownership
- Develop and execute category strategies for surface transportation, warehousing/3PL, and parcel services aligned with Honeywell Intelligrated business and project delivery objectives.
- Own category roadmaps that balance total cost, service performance, capacity assurance, and operational flexibility.
- Drive standardization where appropriate while maintaining agility for project‑specific, site‑specific, and customer‑driven requirements.
Strategic Sourcing & Contract Management
- Lead sourcing initiatives including RFPs/RFQs, carrier and 3PL evaluations, negotiations, and supplier awards.
- Negotiate and manage master service agreements (MSAs), rate structures, accessorial frameworks, SLAs, and performance commitments.
- Ensure contracts align with Honeywell standards for risk allocation, safety, insurance, cybersecurity, and compliance.
Surface Transportation (TL / LTL / Drayage)
- Own sourcing and supplier strategy for truckload, less‑than‑truckload, regional carriers, and drayage providers.
- Optimize carrier mix and lane strategies to support project freight, installation timelines, and peak demand periods.
- Address capacity constraints, seasonal volatility, and service recovery needs.
Warehousing & 3PL Services
- Lead category strategy for warehousing, cross‑dock, staging, kitting, and value‑added logistics services.
- Support project execution by ensuring warehousing solutions enable sequenced deliveries, site readiness, and installation efficiency.
- Drive performance improvements in inventory accuracy, dwell time, throughput, and cost control.
Parcel & Small Package
- Own parcel carrier strategy for small package and expedited shipments supporting aftermarket parts, service, and urgent customer needs.
- Optimize rate structures, service levels, and carrier allocation to balance speed, cost, and reliability.
- Support last‑mile delivery performance tied to customer SLAs.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with Logistics, Project Management, Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Field Services to align category strategies with execution requirements.
- Act as the primary subject‑matter expert for domestic transportation, warehousing, and parcel sourcing within Honeywell Intelligrated.
- Support project planning where logistics decisions materially impact cost, schedule, or customer commitments.
Supplier Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Manage supplier performance through scorecards, QBRs, corrective action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive accountability for on‑time delivery, damage reduction, safety performance, responsiveness, and cost transparency.
- Identify opportunities to improve service reliability, network efficiency, and total delivered cost.
Risk, Safety & Compliance
- Identify and mitigate risks related to capacity shortages, labor constraints, network disruptions, and service failures.
- Ensure adherence to DOT regulations, safety standards, and Honeywell policies across transportation and warehousing providers.
- Support audits and compliance reviews as required.
Value Creation & Sustainability
- Deliver measurable cost savings, productivity gains, and service improvements across surface, warehousing, and parcel categories.
- Support Honeywell Intelligrated sustainability objectives through route optimization, network efficiency, and responsible supplier practices.
QualificationsYOU MUST HAVE
- 8 or more years of experience in transportation sourcing, logistics, category management, or operations, with ownership of surface, warehousing, and/or parcel categories.
- Strong knowledge of TL/LTL markets, warehousing/3PL operations, and parcel carrier networks.
- Proven experience negotiating complex commercial agreements and managing strategic supplier relationships.
- Strong analytical capability with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and sourcing platforms (e.g., Coupa, Ariba).
- Excellent communication, stakeholder influence, and project management skills in a matrixed environment.

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
- Experience supporting project‑based, engineered‑to‑order, or capital equipment supply chains.
- Familiarity with jobsite delivery, staged shipments, installation sequencing, and field service logistics.
- Exposure to damage mitigation, packaging optimization, and last‑mile delivery challenges.
- Experience managing multi‑site warehousing networks.
Additional Information
- This role operates in a matrixed Honeywell Intelligrated environment and requires strong influence without direct authority.
- Periodic travel may be required to support supplier reviews, site visits, and business needs.
