Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to ensure the implementation, maintenance, and compliance of the purchasing activities in the Procurement function to support the businesses.

Acting as a strategic partner to internal stakeholders, you will contribute to supply continuity, cost optimization, risk mitigation, and long‑term sourcing strategies. You will collaborate with internal teams to support business objectives, manage change and improve overall supply chain performance.


The work model for the role is hybrid.

This role is contributing to the ABB Electrification, Installation Products in Canada.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Executing purchasing strategies to support the business by optimizing costs, quality, and reliability of suppliers and supplied products.

  • Designing, supporting and implementing plans and effective strategies in line with business strategies for local sourcing of products/materials to meet current and future business requirements.

  • Applying and implementing procurement standards, tools, and processes in your area of responsibility to secure quality, delivery, cost, and sustainability.

  • Managing Supply Chain projects such as cost-reduction initiatives, new sources of supply and inventory optimization to reach ABB objectives and strategies.

  • Interacting with Engineering, Marketing, quality and R&D departments to support new product introductions.

  • Lead supplier negotiations, including commercial terms, pricing, contracts, and long‑term agreements, to ensure cost competitiveness, supply reliability, and alignment with business objective

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers; lead supplier research and qualification activities

Qualifications for the role

  • You have 10 years of experience as a strategic buyer or commodity manager - procurement, strategic sourcing, commodity management, or category management

  • Strong experience with spend analysis data and following global market indicators.

  • Proven ability to resolve complex supply chain challenges

  • Proven experience as lead negotiator including legal contracts.

  • Posses good knowledge of manufacturing processes (such as sheet metal work, machining, casting, plastic injection molding) is an asset.

  • University degree in business administration or engineering.

  • You are at ease communicating in both English and French. French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
