Steel Logistics & Loadout Supervisor

Location: Cocoa Beach, FL
Shift: Day Shift (with potential responsibility for supporting evening operations)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: Starting at $26.00 per hour, with higher rates available based on experience

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Steel Logistics & Loadout Supervisor to coordinate daily shipping operations within a structural steel manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring fabricated materials are prepared, verified, loaded, and dispatched safely and efficiently while providing leadership and guidance to shipping personnel.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in steel handling, equipment operation, team leadership, and shipment coordination in a fast-paced production setting.

Primary Responsibilities

Shipping & Loadout Operations

  • Direct and coordinate daily shipping and loadout activities for fabricated steel products.
  • Ensure outgoing materials are properly staged, loaded, secured, and prepared for transportation.
  • Verify shipment accuracy, including piece counts, markings, and supporting documentation.
  • Review shipping records and load information to ensure compliance with delivery requirements.
  • Maintain organized and accurate shipping documentation and load records.

Team Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day direction and support to shipping personnel.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new team members on procedures, equipment operation, and safety expectations.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and operational efficiency within the department.
  • Support staffing and workflow needs to meet production and delivery schedules.

Cross-Department Coordination

  • Work closely with production, logistics, and operations teams to ensure materials are available and shipped according to customer deadlines.
  • Communicate shipment status and address scheduling challenges proactively.
  • Coordinate priorities to support changing production and transportation requirements.

Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead daily safety discussions and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Monitor compliance with company safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve loadout processes, efficiency, and material flow.
  • Assist in implementing operational improvements that enhance productivity and shipment accuracy.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of five years of experience in steel shipping, material handling, or structural steel operations.
  • At least two years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, telehandlers, and vertical mast lifts.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership abilities.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and quality-focused workplace.

Preferred

  • Experience using Tekla EPMgo or comparable production, inventory, or shipping management software.
  • Background working within structural steel fabrication or manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with shipping documentation, load planning, and transportation coordination.
