Overview

Ensures warehouse, DRC, and CS follow all MDI, federal, State, and local regulations concerning sanitation and food safety.

 

 

Responsibilities

Accountabilities:

 

  • Assists with the sanitation budget for labor, supplies and contracted services
  • Manage sanitation efforts of all departments of the warehouse, office, dispatch and reclaim center according to MDI’s Master Cleaning Schedule
  • Participates and develops corrective actions and ensures corrective actions are followed by validation and verification audits.
  • Manage outside cleaning services for offices and restrooms including vendor selection, invoice approval, and vendor performance.
  • Assists with maintaining required records to include Seafood HACCP plans, SSOP’s, food safety plans, and National Organic Program.
  • Leads internal audits for compliance with the requirements of SQF, FDA, and USDA. Develops corrective and preventive actions as necessary.
  • Maintain open communication and good working relationships across all departments and shifts to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Assists Food Safety Manger in the leadership and implementation of sanitation and regulatory updates.
  • Oversee the disposal of recyclable materials and trash; as well as managing the returns and damage process.
  • Inspects the warehouse weekly to ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, SQF, and MDI sanitation
  • Responsible for the maintenance and service of all bait stations and pest control traps for a 1.5 million sq. ft. facility.
  • Works with contracted Pest Control Operator on a weekly or as needed frequency to mitigate and correct pest issues.
  • Supports the Food Safety Manager in maintaining SQF certification and ensuring the facility consistently complies with all SQF standards.
  • Requires a flexible schedule and involves substantial walking, stair climbing, and working in a warehouse setting where temperatures can range from room temperature down to -25° in the freezer.
  • Assists the Food Safety manager in creating a safe work environment through training and positive reinforcement.
  • Maintain scheduled cleaning of MDI’s banana ripening operation.
  • Other related activities as necessary.

Qualifications

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from an accredited four-year college or university and 3-5+ years’ experience in food industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • SQF or similar GFSI certification required with the ability to obtain SQF Practitioner Certification within 3 months of employment
  • Successfully completed HACCP training and possess a minimum of one year of experience working within a HACCP-regulated facility.
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Outstanding skills in organization, coaching, analysis, and communication are required

Dimensions:
•Oversees 10+ non-exempt employees, handling scheduling, supervision, conflict resolution, payroll, attendance, PTO, discipline, recognition, and safety.
•Oversees the facility's Integrated Pest Management program, supervising both staff and external pest control technicians.
