Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Project Transportation Planner to join its growing transportation and infrastructure practice in Northern California. This individual will contribute to the execution of multimodal transportation planning and mobility initiatives for a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients. The position offers the opportunity to work on transportation impact studies, corridor planning, CEQA/NEPA analyses, and infrastructure master planning efforts, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, project management experience, and a deep understanding of California transportation policy, entitlement processes, and regional agency coordination. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive project execution across transportation planning and traffic analysis initiatives from proposal through delivery, ensuring alignment with overall project and team objectives.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
  • Oversee and contribute to technical studies and documentation, including:
    • Transportation impact analyses and Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) studies
    • CEQA/NEPA transportation documnetation and environmnetal review support
    • Corridor, mobility, and multimodal planning studies
    • Parking, access, and site circulation analyses
    • Complete Streets, active transporttion, and transit-oriented development initiatives
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineering, environmental, and land development professionals, to support integrated project delivery.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans, ensuring quality through established QA/QC processes.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance and quality control.
  • Present findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client engagement.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering.
  • Professional licensure (PE, TE, or similar) required.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation planning principles, policies, and analytical methodologies.
  • Experience with transportation analysis tools and GIS platforms is preferred.
  • Demonstrated project management and client management experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. The estimated range for this role is: $120,000 - $171,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
