The Opportunity:

Our Major Projects group within WSP’s ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) sector, supports clients from coast to coast. This group provides project management, project controls, construction management and supply chain services to our major projects in the mining, energy, industrial and power markets across the country.   The team ensures consistent project delivery for all clients regardless of project location or market.

To meet our growth challenges, WSP is currently seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Specialist to be part of our team. The role is responsible for purchasing functions on assigned client-based project(s). As a Senior member of the team, you may also be needed to work as lead on select major projects.  This position can be located out of our Calgary, AB OR Montreal, QC offices.

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will have a strong understanding of procurement procedures/workflows and apply them to Client-specific and/or project requirements.
  • Responsible for tasks varying in nature and urgency, such as:
    • Project bidders list development.
    • Bid package preparation. 
    • Issue RFP’s
    • Bid opening and evaluation. 
    • Negotiation and clarifications
    • Issuing PO’s or PReq’s 
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Responsible Engineers
  • Work with Team Lead to manage and coordinate the projects purchasing needs.
  • Work directly with expeditors, SQS Coordinator and Logistics Coordinator, as needed. Communicate delays and schedule conflicts with Project Team.
  • Collaborate with relevant ‘key working relationships, such as Client procurement representatives and vendors, to ensure all procurement activities regarding PO’s have been addressed and covered off. 
  • Proactively manage PO Change management process
  • Closeout PO’s once all contractual and procedural requirements have been met.
  • Manage deadlines and ensure appropriate communication is provided (to relevant parties) when schedule conflicts arise.
  • Administer and electronically distribute specified reports to Clients and/or engineering staff members.
  • Expected to work with all levels of the organization in a cohesive manner.
  • Typically responsible for large, complex packages and fabricated equipment and modules.
  • May be assigned as Lead Buyer on a major Project.
  • Mentor to junior and intermediate buyers.
  • Resource planning for project, tracking of budgets, change management dur to change in scope and preparing labor hour estimates at project level are other tasks that will need to be performed.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Degree, diploma or certificate in Supply Chain Management or other relevant area.
  • At least eight (8) to twelve (12) years’ experience in Energy, Power and Industrial projects.
  • Previous experience in an EPCM environment is an asset.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office and experience in working on Supply Chain Management software.
  • Preferably Bilingual - English and French.
