Role Summary
The Senior Logistics Coordinator will be instrumental in managing ocean and overland shipments for both import and export processes. This role requires precise coordination with suppliers, shippers, customers, ocean carriers, transportation companies, railways, warehouses, and customs authorities to ensure efficient shipment delivery and pick-up. The ideal candidate will be responsible for meticulous shipment tracking, logistics optimization, and ensuring cost-effective and timely transportation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Handle ocean shipments for both import and export, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
- Arrange and plan shipment delivery/pick-up with ocean carriers and local drayage transportation companies, cold storage or warehouses and track and trace shipments until final delivery.
- Verify the accuracy of all freight documentation and booking information prior to shipment execution, ensuring compliance with food safety guidelines with regulatory agencies in local and foreign markets.
- Communicate with global offices/agents to ensure proper documentation and compliance for shipments.
- Collaborate with customs brokers for customs release and compliance with other government agencies as required.
- Negotiate with carriers to secure optimal freight rates and maintain effective service relationships.
- Manage documentation to meet customer and insurance requirements, adhering to international regulations and internal company policies.
- Deliver exceptional client service and maintain robust business relationships with clients and carriers.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, representing the organization professionally and managing the client relationship to ensure satisfaction and long-term success.
- Resolve operational issues and customer complaints, implementing measures to reduce recurrence.
- Audit supplier, transportation and warehousing vendor invoices and reconcile payments/remittances.
- Responsible for accurate billing of shipments, ensuring all service charges are included and billed as per the quotations.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in ocean logistics and transportation, with specific proven expertise in managing temperature-controlled ocean shipments for both export and import from globally.
- Degree or diploma in the area of business management or logistics is a strong asset.
- Industry certifications such as CIFFA/CITT are an asset.
- Experience within the food industry is an asset.
- Strong ability to negotiate and maintain professional relationships.
- Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills, with an emphasis on timely and accurate documentation.
- Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and resolving issues promptly.
- Commitment to providing high-quality client service and maintaining effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience with MS Dynamics 365 or any leading ERP/TMS will be an asset

The annual base salary for this role is expected to fall between $70,000 and $90,000.
