The Senior Deposit Services Specialist provides a wide range of support to the Deposit Services Manager and all other Bank departments. This position’s tasks are split between supporting Deposit Services in the morning and ACH tasks in the afternoon. This requires an analytical problem solver with strong decision-making abilities, technical aptitude, and a proactive mindset. Additional keys to success include effective communication, ability to multitask and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Monitor and process of all non-post, stop pays, positive pay and/or NSF items.
  • Communicate daily with branches/departments listed on the Un-Posted report for decisions.
  • Process chargebacks 2x daily.
  • Process ACH Fed Returns, ACH Death Notification Entries.
  • Work reclamations.
  • Process check adjustments when applicable through correspondent bank (FNBB).
  • Process FGN CL & Collection Items through FNBB.
  • Process and research EFT Disputes, provide provisional credit, produce EFT letters and communications with clients when applicable.
  • Process Check Fraud cases, produce letters and track cases using a tickler system.
  • Federal Backup Withholding submissions to Treasury Dpt.
  • ACH origination/merge afternoon files; process file violations.
  • Daily and Monthly review and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Provide guidance to Deposit Operations Specialists on problem resolution.
Requirements

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for processing foreign items.
  • Process chargebacks, ACH items.
  • Responsible for processing daily reports and settlements as delegated by the Deposit Services Manager.
  • Report general ledger discrepancies immediately to the Deposit Services Manager and assist in clearing discrepancies.
  • Maintain detailed records on all work responsibilities. 
  • Maintain the confidentiality of the Bank’s customers. 
  • Remain current on and adhere to all regulatory requirements and training. 
  • Responsible for providing back up to all other Deposit Services Specialists. 
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  •  High School diploma or equivalent.
  •  7+ years or prior deposit operations experience.

Language and Interpersonal Skills

  •  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  •  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  •  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general-public.
  •  Effective interpersonal relationships with management and team members.
  •  A thorough understanding and application of all policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to the work of Deposit Operations.
  •  Ability to effectively manage time as related to daily tasks.
  •  Ability to prioritize multiple demands in a high-pressure environment while maintaining professional demeanor.
  •  Ability to operate in a team environment to accomplish shared goals

Mathematical Skills

  •  Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
  •  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situation.

Reasoning Ability

  •  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  •  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer and Office Equipment Skills

  •  Spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel) and Word processing software (Microsoft Word)
  •  Other Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, One Note, PowerPoint)
  •  Copier/Scanner
